Double Double Toil and Trouble.

Gather around kiddos, it's time for Garld to tell you a story of the mean old pair of witches who brewed up a deck from their cauldron of wickedness! What's that you ask? Why would they do such a thing? Why, isn't it obvious? It's simple. To flatline the runner of course.

This is a pretty simple concept, regular opening for RP. Ice centrals, get a few drip economy going, then drop a Twins on a server with any one of the Kill cards (Komainu being the best, Tsurugi next, Mamba if you have to) Do this once you have a second copy in hand, preferably a third. You don't need the cash to rez all your ice, just one. Once.

A second time through Komainu almost always flatlines someone. VEEEEERY few times will a runner have tricks for the SECOND pass. First pass often gets them to pop their 'oh shi...' button (or bankrupt themselves) but the second pass is lethal. And since the Twins fire after the encounter they don't get a chance to jack out...they will die.

They. Will. Die.

Mowahahahahahahahahahahha......

Oh and if they somehow don't, or you somehow get screwed and don't have a second copy? The deck can still score out on the standard RP click compression nonsense.

Interesting idea. Would it make sense to add Neural EMPs for the kill shot since you can't flat line with Komainu? As far I can tell, Komainu can only clear the runner's hand (1 net damage sub per card in the runner's grip) so by definition it can't take them to -1 card to flatline. Tsurugi would work really well with the twins though.

@drmastodon You re-encounter the komainu and it still has the subs from the first encounter as they last till the end of run so if it eats all your hand you then take more net damage and flatline.

It can, because Komainu's Subroutine will remain until the end of the run and since The Twins will force the runner to encounter the previous ICE again. They will die.

Ok got it. Didn't realize the twins cause the ice to be encountered in the same state as it was first encountered. I just thought it was treated as a new encounter.

Also I never noticed, the "remainder of the run" text on komainu. I like that card a lot more now. Thanks!

I wonder if a plain old Neural Katana would make more sense than the Mamba? Katana is only a bit easier to break, but packs significantly more punch.

And if you want the surprise flatline, then PAD Campaign might be better than Medical Research Fundraiser. Finally, if you wanted to go "all in" on the Twins punch, then I could see Rototurret being potentially better than Eli 1.0 as a way for clearing programs (oh, hey, is that a Faerie?).
