Slow Down, I'm Scoring Here

Aedrill 3

This deck went 4-1 in Birmingham Store Championship and 3-0 in Loughborough Store Championship (yes, it was that small)

In fact, in Birmingham during double elimination my opponents played corporation to avoid playing against it.

It's a slow deck, so whenever I had a chance I chose to play as the Corp first. That being said, it's making money like there's no tomorrow, and it's sucking money and clicks out of the Runner mercilessly. The nemesis of this deck is, wait for it, Account Siphon. You didn't see that coming, did you?

Most of the time it's not about you getting poor but about Runner making enough money to close the scoring windows. But if you can survive after getting siphoned, there's a very good chance Runner will be broke again within a turn or two.

Obviously, you want to ice up centrals. The way I do it is this - any ICE on HQ and R&D and Excalibur on Archives. If there's a chance that Agendas will land there (e.g. if you're playing against Anarch), feel free to place something nastier as well. Do, however, try to place Excalibur as the outermost ICE. Don't rez it unless you can really benefit from preventing further runs. If there's a NAPD behind some expensive to break ICE on a remote, let them go for it. Try to rez it when they desperately need to get to your remote and want to avoid dealing with some scary ICE on your HQ and R&D. 9 times out of 10 they won't be able to deal with it and you will be able to score this important Agenda. That's exactly how I won one of the games during the tournament. Fun times.

The rest of the deck is fairly obvious. Just piss them off by making one scoring server with Caprice and Ash behind some serious ICE, and then gazillion remotes with drips. You probably want to protect Sundew, as Runner will not let you have it, even with Hostile Infrastructure rezzed.

Ah, Hostile Infrastructure. It's expensive, isn't it? Most of the time you won't use it. But sometimes, Runner gets rich and starts trashing your stuff. And you don't want that, because this deck is slow enough to run out of money if left without any steady source of income. Besides, you really want to see Runner's face when they finally win Psi game and realise that they can't trash your Caprice, because it would kill them. Also, Anarch in general will hate this card, anyone with Imp will despise you for rezzing it. Sadly, it doesn't work against Wanton Destruction but it does against Keyhole, Parasite and cutlery runs.

One thing I learned during Birmingham tournament was that you have to be quick. Ice up your remotes, place two ICE on a remote and start scoring immediately. Don't let them catch a breath, build up or scout your ICE. Force them to rush and make mistakes. The best opening agenda is NAPD and you want them to steal it. After that, you will probably score three pointer easily. Don't wait, do it ASAP, preferably Utopia Fragment. If you can do it you will probably win the game. Honestly, the only thing Runner will be able to do is dig R&D and if you can stop it, that's it, you won. Just feed them NAPDs from time to time and you'll be good.

So yeah, have fun and make sure that your opponent doesn't.
