Random Acts of Journalism & Industrial Sabotage - 1st, Gameo

Manticore 125

This is the runner deck I played, along with @crithitd20's Audacious Moons (https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/47294/audacious-moons-ssct-winner), for 1st place at the Gameology Store Champ held Feb 3rd in Montclair, CA, with 10 players.

It obviously draws a lot from Comrades Val - RNG Key just came out and I wanted to try it out in combination with Find The Truth. This deck went undefeated against:

Asa Glacier (1 game in Swiss, 2 more in the cut) CTM Jinteki Biotech Builder of Nations

The full best-case scenario for this deck is that you Rebirth Omar with Find the Truth & RNG Key; in this case, you get three successful run triggers on your Omar run, which you are free to put in the best order: peek at R&D, decide which server this was actually a run on, and then choose a number. So any agendas always payout RNG Key, and otherwise you can take your choice of an HQ access and a blind RNG guess or an R&D access on a known card for RNG money / cards, Turning Wheel counter, Aumakua, etc. (EDIT: I have been informed that Omar is a constant ability, while cards which say "the first time" are generally triggered abilities, which happen after constant abilities, so this doesn't work, but you can still hit R&D for guaranteed RNG or make educated guesses on HQ with the information you have from Finding the Truth.) I usually preferred to just hit HQ a lot - eventually you know what cards the Corp is holding that it doesn't want to play yet and can try to get lucky - but with an open Archives or enough Bad Pub, you can click for 3c or 2 cards once per turn if that's appropriate at the time.

Despite the Omar / Find the Truth synergy, I wanted to play this out of Val because Career Fairs and the initial bad publicity really help out, and people ice Archives against Omar right away. If you play Val everyone knows you're on Rebirth but you're more likely to actually have the rest of your stuff set up by the time you find it and people won't necessarily be able to commit ice at the best time, besides which Find the Truth is just pretty good on its own. Shoutout to @omnijeff for the tip to put my deck in an unusual place on my mat so I'd remember to reveal my draws.

If I were going to make changes I'd probably replace Datasucker with Ice Carver and maybe try to fit a Turntable or Vigil or something - as it is you don't have enough memory for Aumakua, RNG Key, and the rest of your breakers - but this never turned into a catastrophe on the day.

Finally I should say it's very much possible this whole deck is still just better with Indexing instead of all this nonsense, but this version was very fun.
