Andromeda - President/CEO

Nordrunner 4138

I am a little reluctant to post an Andromeda deck as they are a dime a dozen nowadays, but I was in the mood to write and this deck has been on a tear as of late.

There is enough variation here I think to justify a new post. The cards that make it a little unique I think are Forged Activation orders, Pre-paid Voicepad, and the recent MVP of the deck (and inspiration for the name of the deck), Compromised Employee.

Maybe the one glaring omission from standard Andromeda decks is Datasucker. Since Datasucker is essentially economy, I am instead just using a mega-money generating deck to supplement the virus tokens. With so many options for econ, Kati Jones, PPVP+events, Security Testing, Desparado, and again, Compromised Employee, I am almost always having plenty of money the entire game to fly around all the servers I want.

The synergy between Parasites, Compromised Employee and FAO (forged) must be mentioned. FAO enables many options. Gain money after a rez with the employees, and then be able to drop the parasite on it without face-cheking. It's a great tactic, especially against scary Jinteki ICE. Additionally, FAO can trash more ICE if they can't (or won't) rez that ICE.

Other than that, it's pretty standard Andy. A very strong deck and a lot of fun to play.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. I was fed up with regular Andy. She still is my favourite runner. This might help me find the fun again.

Haha, I'd just started getting on the Parasite, Compromised, Forged train. It can be really, really fantastic if it comes off. I'd be interested to see how this runs without Datasucker, which is my only real concern (insta-speed Parasite seems to lose a lot of value, but the second Clone Chip and R&D Interface seem really nice).

Also, how has economy been so far? Do you feel like you're getting a lot out of the PPVP's?

I played some games. Lost one because of being too aggressive, but the Pads are brilliant. Play FAO for free, and gain 1 or more because of CE.

@Argamas @hasuprotoss Thanks for the comments. What is so awesome about the FAO/Parasite/CE combo is that it has been around since Genesis. Clone chip boosts parasite quite a bit from Creation and Control, but it's an old school play making a comeback.

Regarding datasucker and PPVP. I can't trash ICE as easily obviously w/o Datasucker, but parasite will always at least save me money for every counter. Plus, it can kill the quandaries, rotos, etc if I cant find the breaker I need. PPVP works partially because of all of my events, and it actually is a great compliment to CE as long term econ cards. Both of those cards are amazing to get early, and with 3 of each I am very likely to get 1 or both or multiples in an opening hand. The kind of payoff from these in the opener is very strong. So with bursty econ (Sec Testing, events), and long terms econ cards, money is not usually ever an issue. Plus if I am not playing Datasucker, I need additional cards to protect Corroder from Power Shutdown, and PPVP fills in nicely for that.

I should maybe mention that often CE and PPVP are dead late, and that is the drawback. But with playing these early enough in the game, it can give you the positional advantage to totally dominate, ESPECIALLY Compromised, that card is really hard for the corp to deal with.

cool deck, i like prepaid in criminals too, but I use ken so i can splash in lucky finds. Parasites are nice for sure, but their impact can be mitigated using EShutdown and Crescentus.

I know deckspace is tight, but wouldn't Inside Job have great Synergy too with CE? Did you consider that? Perhaps cut 1 Legwork?

24 Jul 2014 Nordrunner

Inside Job is always a great card. Puts a unique kind of pressure on the corporation and gives you a different tools to get accesses. No reason it wouldn't work. I've been scratching my head trying to find room for 1 myself.

What about crescentus? Adds to the shutdown/rez bonus CE gives. Also a real harassment early on.

@x3r0h0ur Any reason you'd play crescentus over a 3rd shutdown? Also, what would you take out?

I like the "new" take on Andie...but no Plascrete? I would remove a ninja and a legwork to add some meat damage protection

I think 3x Compromised Employee is ample Scorched Protection, seeing how the deck is not intended to run tag-me.

I like that someone finally paid attention to Compromised Employee. Thank you!

I usually run compromised employees with 2-3 hostages, along with 1 kati jones and 1 Mr Li those hostages are never wasted.

@Nushura Total meta call I'd say. As far as I know the only way you can take Meat Damage is after a tag or a Punitive Counterstrike. Generally I will have plenty of money to fight off traces to save my life. Quite honestly though, it's the first competitive deck I have played without a Carapace or New Angeles City Hall (or any other kind of direct counter).

@Labbes Yes, they help lots!

@Treiclon CE has always been great, perhaps I just know how to get more value from them, or the Meta has shifted in some way to enhance their benefit, but It seems like I am getting more value from them today than ever before.

Good to see some love for Compromised Employee. I've used a similar concept in Reina (Oh did you want to pay extra to turn that on AND pay me? Great, thanks.) and there isn't any reason for it to be equally effective in faction. Feels a mite slow since you have to shake your tags from SIphon unless you've got a firm handle on their influence, but I definitely like the idea.

Minus the PrePaid voice pad and Testings, this is literally the Andy deck I used throughout leagues and tournaments during mid 2013.

It's a great list! It has less momentum than the standard Sucker rig, but it's more sturdy once the engine gets rolling. Parasites and Clone Chips offer tons of versatility. Very fun to play, too. Cheers!

Sure you don't want to pull a Clone Chip for an Opus. ;)
