Out of the Siphon-ashes (1st at Halmstad SC)

PE has been my one true love since the very beginning. But during the Account Siphon-spam it became very difficult, if not even impossible, to play. So for a while I’ve been playing Skorpios, mostly, but my heart was never in it. It was with PE, always. And with Siphon gone, I finally decided to re-create that flickering look of my opponent that I’ve missed so much. I ended up taking this deck to the next Store Championship. It went 2-2 in swiss and undefeated in cut. But more importantly I had a blast with it.

(This is my first published deck, and hence my first write up.. prepare for it to be messy. Much like the blood of the runners on my hands.)

This deck can go fast. This deck can go slow, biding its time. This deck can even score out.

There are two viable options of restricted cards to include in PE, Bio-Ethics or Obokata. Bio-Ethics is only good for that one-turn-kill, though. I find that Obokata provides more options. With Fetal gone, I wanted an agenda that hurts to steal. And if you get a chance to score it early, the threat of you scoring out will make the runner compelled to run on traps to keep you from doing so.

Rule no.1
Never ever go below 4 credits (unless absolutely necessary), but you all know this. Snare!

Rule no.2
Never stop installing traps and agendas, you don’t want to get agenda flooded! Keep in mind that FBF is expensive to use, and they will sacrifice it to prevent brain damage from Cerebral.

Rule no.3
Miraju goes on R&D, always. A successful (run after) Indexing is your worst enemy. Everything else can be dealt with.

Rule no.4
Don’t be afraid to install a trap card naked, let it sit for a couple of turns, and then triple advance it all of a sudden. This will create massive confusion and sweating across the table, which is truly satisfying to watch.


The two dropped games:
1) Steve, where I didn’t find one trap card. And then a perfect Indexing -> Spear Fishing over Miraju for the win.
2) Valencia, with Maw and ice destruction. Tough match up, but still a close call.

This is not for the faint hearted. You need to be bold, keep the runner guessing, and you might just get a chance to score out before they work up the courage to run. And don’t forget to bring your crazy eyes, that always helps.

@BizTheDadit got cut for Aiki. Kakugo has no facecheck, is more expensive, and I expected a lot more ice destruction.

Would you consider Voter Intimidation over MCA Info for your Film Critic Destroyer? Would you do anything with 4 extra inf?

@simili PE is my favorite, just something about it, thanks for sharing your list; I'm jealous of your alt art PE card! I'm fairly new player, and was curious about pros / cons around using Celebrity Gift vs IPO in decks with Ambush Assets.

@onibaku06, I considered Voter Intimidation. But the runner needs one agenda in their score area for it to work, and you don't want that to be Obokata, via Film Critic. Also, you n e e d to win that psi-game, it just feels like a liability, when MCA is definite and also works better against Fall Guy. Don't think I would do that much, there's so much fun stuff in-faction. Maybe a third Cerebral, though.

@gallilama, it's beautiful, ey!? Celebrity Gift is good econ when you're low on credits. And it goes well with the theme "play with their minds". I prefer to go mandatory - draw - Celebrity Gift, to have one card they didn't get to see.

IPO is expensive, and too boring for this deck - there are no mind games with it :)

Another option is NGO Front, but I haven't quite decided on that one yet.

How much work does Data Loop do? Would you now replace it with Anansi to make room for 3 cerebral and a archived memories for example?

@simili, I've heard people talk about ICE having a face-check penalty before and I've neglected to take that into consideration when building my corp decks. Thanks for the response as it's going to help me going forward.

@CeeTee2001, not much on the SC-day, sadly. I'm thinking it might be too expensive. And I've been playing around with Anansi last couple of games, but I dunno, didn't really get a feeling for it. Also expensive.

With all the Apocalypses flying about these days, i'm trying out Architect right now instead.

What's the general thought behind Preemptive over Genotyping in Jinteki decks?

This was built before Sovereign Sight was out, so I never even tested it. And haven't since. My thought on it would be 1) playcost 2) if you're up against a mill-deck, Preemptive recycles one more card 3) worst case scenario - you only get back two cards you need 'cause of the trash with Genotyping.

@simili How do you usually play ronin? I mushin ronin and people will still run and a lot of the time when I go to advance it after a turn or two of it being installed it still gets trashed. Can you give me some advice on how you play it in this list?

@HoodedArcher I find that if you advance something a couple of turns later, they'll probably run it on their turn, since it seems important enough for you to "waste" resources on. Do the same thing with junebug or cerebral and see what happens. Otherwise, just try and mushin > advance - a four advanced card is always a bigger threat.
