Debt Dolls (40% Winrate @ UK Nationals)

SlightlyOdd 52

Matryoshka has been a favourite of mine for a while now, and once I saw the fantastic combo with Muslihat that many were playing I got pretty excited. But I wanted to be original, distance myself from the herd, truly shine among the line of dolls.

So I did what any self respecting netrunner would do, and made an arguably suboptimal version for the sake of uniqueness.

The name of the game here is economy denial, pressuring the corp as much as possible using events like Transfer of Wealth and Tread Lightly to keep the credit count low. Most of the economy in this deck is run events, to get Muslihat value.

Aniccam is a bit of a weird include but keeps draw consistent whilst providing protection against kill. One memory diamond helps install utility programs, as well as helping to retain cards gained through Aniccam and Muslihat.

Fransofia, arguably, isnt always going to work. But paired with Cats Cradle and Tread Lightly you can pressure servers you otherwise wouldn't. The 15 cred bypass almost never gets used, but the threat of it is enough to keep corps at a polite and respectable number of credits. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I have one twinning plus twinning tech in this deck because, lets face it, econ denial isnt much of a game plan. This deck used to gain all its multi access from jailbreak, but cards like Cupellation and The Twinning help you win the game.

When I played this game at UK Nats, it was my second tournament, my previous being Cambridge Regionals. This was before the latest rotation, and I ran a Matryoshka deck using Ayla. That deck didn't perform well since Matryoshka was the entire game plan, rather than being a supporter of the game plan.

I feared I would experience similar losses with this deck as my first two rounds were fairly punishing, especially against LEO Glacier. It was in this moment I realised LEO Glacier was a near perfect counter to Matryoshka in general, and I'll be thinking about how to combat that in the future.

However the wins did begin to show themselves, and I found tread lightly and The Twinning to be fantastic ways of scoring my final points.

I'm happy to answer any and all questions about this deck, and I would love any feedback and suggestions! I want these Dolls to be as financially crippling as possible...
