The Once & Future Shogun

Fortunasown 175

The key conceit is that no piece of ice in this deck is safe to face-check. Outside of edge hands every piece of ice in this deck is capable of doing some kind of damage, or something the runner won't like, the grail ice being the most versatile, but also causing those edge cases. This means that every piece of ice can be installed as the outermost on a central server. Effectively, adding 1 ice to any run on a remote. Try not to score the future perfects if you do not have to. Cheat agendas with architect if you get lucky. There is not a full economy, or interns, this means clicking for credits happens a lot. Remember that regardless you want to sit on at least 4 credits at all times if possible. Embrace the shell game, and remember that you will be able to Rez an Iceless caprice on the runners central server run. Also remember unless the runner has an AI breaker Excalibur will be unbreakable, installing two agendas, each behind an Excalibur can win you a game.

Win you a game? I dunno about that. Excalibur is unique. Only 1 can be rezzed at a time. It IS a very effective piece of ICE for RP though, IMO.

The situation that poped up for me was this. I had a hand of two Excalibur and two Medical Breakthrough reasonably secure HQ and weak but costly R&D. I was at 5 points, Runner was at 4. I chose to install both Excalibur in seperate remotes and take a credit. Put me at 9 credits. The runner aquired some credits and hit R&D again and wiffed. I installed both Medical Breakthroughs and advanced one. Runner ran and broke outermost on HQ, ended the run and ran on the advanced remote scoring one of the agendas. I won the next turn. A strange case I know, but things like it are possible with Excalibur. In another game I had it as the soul ice on Archives and a copy unrezzed on HQ. Runner ran HQ planning to bounce and grab my agenda. Rezzed Excalibur and let the other trash, won me that game as well.
