Edward Kim: Consummate Professional

GMan 99

TL;DR: Ed has a sweet ability and he uses it by running centrals a lot.

This is obviously similar to pre-H&P Gabe or Andy, but Ed can run three of all the key viruses and breakers plus a couple Knights for good measure. This deck sets up pretty fast and becomes unstoppable soon after.

Card choices:

Day Job is (ironically) exciting, but I think Armitages and Laundries may prove more effective. Masanori is mostly to help keep up with FA decks. Scrubbed because Currents are dumb, but it's not terrible by itself given the fixed breakers.

Speaking of silver bullets, Knights are partly for Lotus but they also allow early Siphons. David helps against all that new big ice, and maybe IT Department.

One Progenitor should suffice for endgame MU - you can have your whole rig plus room for one Knight / Parasite / David. Just keep in mind that Power Shutdown is a thing.

Imps are always nice to have, but Scrubber is probably a better fit if I'm worried about trashing assets. I don't think either is worth the dilution.

I thought about trying Archives Interface (AI? ArchivesI? ArchI? Archie?? HQI and RDI roll off the tongue so nicely...), but it'll be iced up regardless.

I like the look of Ed i think he's gonna be a good runner, I like the look of the deck 2 it looks like it could do some work i think id want to get Nerve Agent in as well just for more chance to trigger his ability the account siphon seems like a good way to pressure that HQ tho.

On the subject of Archives Interface i think calling it Arc I is the way am going to say it :)

Yeah, I originally had a Nerve Agent instead of two Mediums but realized that corps will learn to ice up HQ against Ed. Losing an event from R&D is annoying, losing one from HQ is far worse. And that's before they even see a Siphon.

"Arc-I" does sound good, now just need to figure out a spelling ;)

This looks cool, but I think I would like it even better if the Account Siphons were Legworks. With no Wanton Destruction, there's no multi-access for the hand. And his ability seems like it would synergize with Legwork better than Account Siphon.

@Oisin Your right that Legwork works better with the ability but Account Siphon is an econ card and can keep the corp poor and a poor corp can't res ICE to defend them self.

I don't think your wrong but you will probably need more econ if you take Account Siphon out of the deck for Legwork.

I really don't think multi-access for HQ is necessary. Most of your accesses are already good - if you're not stealing an Agenda, you're trashing an operation. Unless they're deliberately holding on to crap they'd normally play, which is totally fine.

But now that you mention it, swapping out one Siphon for a Legwork and a Planned Assault might pay off.

You most definitely should be running 3x Dirty Laundry here. I'm not sure Progenitor is the most reliable source of MU. I agree that this deck needs it, but it cannot host a D4v1d or Knight, only viruses. I'm dubious about Siphon in Kim; I am under the impression Corps will try to shore off HQ versus him like they do against Gabe. Desperado is a good choice for Kim; he definitely wants to run a lot.

CHANGES while no one's playing NEH: -2 Masanori -1 Scrubbed +2 Dirty Laundry +1 Armitage.

Finally got in some games. Laundry was better than Day Job as we predicted, but I never minded drawing that 1-of DJ. Early Desperado is a big deal since we only have two.

Progenitor worked great! Even when I saw it late, I just hosted a second copy of DS / Medium and dumped the first when I needed the MU. I didn't face any decks with Shutdown though, which is my real fear. You can Deja Vu the DS +1, but it's a waste to blow another for Progenitor.

Yes, Siphon is about as good as it is in Gabe decks - which is to say it's still a game changer.

Have you considered Imp at all? I've been adding it to all of my (bad) Ed decks because it seems to add another layer to his ID ability, especially in a multi-access situation.
