Replicating Perfection: 2nd place Sydney City Store Champs

AstralFrost 38

This was the corp deck I piloted to second place in the Sydney Store Championships. I believe there were 28 people in attendance and I had two losses on the day, both to the same Stealth Andromeda deck (once in Swiss, once in finals):

My runner deck was Stealth Andromeda, which only lost one game on the day during Swiss to a NEH Fastrobiotic deck:

Overall I'm pretty happy with how the deck performed. A couple of times I was too aggressive trying to score early on and almost regretted it (once coming back from being 6-0 down to win 7-6) and it certainly struggled against Stealth Andromeda. I did have a Maxx Keyhole/Eater matchup which was surprisingly easy with a combination of Wraparound and Caprice defending my R&D.

Changes I'm looking to make going forward:

  • -1 Architect
  • -1 Wraparound
  • -2 Wall of Static
  • +3 Eli
  • +1 Yagura

I'm also tossing up whether to swap Ashigaru with Wall of Thorns. Both have their advantages but Ashigaru just feels a bit riskier to me (ie can get femmed for free runs, could get caught with few cards in hand, plus it costs an additional credit to res). The good side of Ashigaru is that its immune to David.

Any feedback, comments or suggestions are welcome.

I live in Sydney and have never heard of us having any events here?

The upside of wall of thorns is you can make the runner break it even if they are just running to satisfy your identity, unlike Ashigaru.

How about a 3rd login protocol? I suspect runners will start using more currents just to break the corp currents.

@Lttlefoot many of the Good Games stores have championships, so far I've been to both Town Hall and Hurstville (this deck went 100% but I had a different runner deck which didn't work out).

Good point about the Wall of Thorns. I typically put the Ashigaru on my scoring server so I guess I'd need to rethink my strategy a bit there. I think its too costly to run both unless I took out a Tsurugi... which could help vs Stealth Andromeda, maybe.

I've rarely found the need for another ELP to be honest. With Jackson I can put it back and with Daily Business Show I can cycle through my deck pretty quickly. It does suck when you lose one but I think 3 would be overkill.
