Corporate Stronghold

Money talks...runners walk!

Welcome to Argus, a monument reinforced by steel walls and steadfast beliefs. I'd like to introduce you to our loyal Errand Boys, who do anything they're asked...and willingly. We send them to intercept Parasites, Suckers and flying cutlery! Their painstaking efforts to stand in the enemy's way, while at the same time wire us info to let us know that they're coming, help assure absolute security. As they say in Rocky IV, "If he dies, he dies"...but we have ways of making more of them to stifle our opposition to no end.

That's where Jackson Howard comes in! Our contacts at NBN Headquarters have been gracious enough to lend us a DNA sample of their highly sought after executive, and we've been successful in cloning him. To say that our Mr. Howard has been a phenomenal asset to our cause would be nothing less than the understatement of the century, in our not-so humble opinion. Jackson not only finds anything we need at a given time, he can assist in replenishing our supplies in a show of selfless brilliance!

To further guarantee safety to our workers and shareholders, we have employed another mainstay of NBN dominance...the Data Ravens. Under the watchful eye of our new winged spy fleet, we see just about anything and everything. The rest of our security walls are approved for maximum taxation by our best technicians...and trust us when we say, we can afford to employ ONLY the best!

In order to solidify our internal economy, we get massive royalties from fringe benefits, due to private contracts we've set up with various financial powerhouses across the country. We're working on setting up hedge funds to keep our board of directors financially happy, to assure peace of mind for the next generation of corporate branches. We know exactly how to deal with our own...as well as those who are not so friendy. Our payroll department also happens to be well versed in the art of turning hacker credits against them if they're not careful.

Mistakes, however, do happen. We are, after all, human. We lose our concentration for a moment, and someone else may be able to break down our walls and gain access to information they shouldn't. Or should they...? In cases such as those, we have an entire warehouse stocked full of napalm and heavy artillery to equip our Dedicated Response Teams so they may roast any and all would-be hackers like a wild boar on a skewer!

Now if that don't make you feel safe, I don't know what will!

So big description and absolutely useless

...or you could just leave constructive feedback. That'd be awesome, too. :)

I'm honestly surprised that you haven't gone for the whole hog and put three Traffic Accident in too! It's certainly one of the more out-and-out kill decks I've seen in a while...

I've not played Argus at all yet (my main opponent doesn't have Plascrete Carapace, so it seems unsporting!), but this seems pretty straightforward tag-and-bag. Your tagging options seem a little limited. Data Raven can only land tags, really, if the runner allows it, and that only leaves you with the Midseason Replacements. Whilst this has no basis in experience, you might consider Manhunt, which will keep the Tag pressure on the runner, and usually chew through their credits too effectively too.

It seems like you might need more money, too; kill decks often need a lot of money all at once to land the blows.

How does it play? Any particular issues you keep hitting?

Well, my biggest issue thus far has been Medium digs. I have a feeling that R&D Interface locks would be a thing, too. It's really hard to keep runners out when they have unlimited money, and the runners I play against always seem to have that. It's really discouraging. I guess the ICE just isn't taxing enough, maybe?

I COULD consider Manhunt, but if I was gonna add Traffic Accident AND more tagging options, then my ability to put more money options in would take a hit. When I'm able to get 'em both on the table, Subliminal + Paywall is brutal for the runner until they're able to steal an agenda. Jacksons also help with getting back Beanstalk and Hedges. I can chain Private Contracts pretty handily as well. Believe it or not, I haven't once had money issues, heh.

I've gotta find some sort of happy medium (no pun intended!) here and get reliable tagging AND reliable damage to go with reliable econ. It's tough, though, with the rigs that some runners out there can build. And, oh yah...how to kill rigs? With only a 6 agenda suite, there SHOULD be a way...right? :)

Oh, btw, I've since taken out the Shattered Remains and put in a Cyberdex Virus Suite to help against the Medium digs. I may have to start thinking about Cerebral Static, too...as not tagging isn't as devastating to me as not having a defense for IDs like Noise, Whizzard (the bane of DRT) and PrePaid Kate.

With your super low agenda density, is using Argus Security over, say, BABW really worth it? You only have 6 triggers for the ID and the runner is pretty much always going to take the damage. You might get a couple more damage out of some scored Cleaners, but with so few agendas I'm not sure the synergy is really there. BABW would probably fix a lot of your money woes. You'd have 8 triggers, plus however many transactions you Jackson back in. I haven't played Argus before so I really don't know how impactful the ability is (probably depends on timing more than anything), but BABW is always a winner for me.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed reading the description lol

Hehe, thanks Slo. I was in a creative mood for some reason when I did that write-up. :)
