Butcher Shop - 1st Place Regionals Dortmund 2/5/15

Eldraian 285

So, my version of Jakodrako's Butcher Shop deck (http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/16988/butcher-shop-v4-1st-place-uncle-s-games-sc-redmond-wa-). It went 11-2 in one SC and the Regionals (dropping a game to Workshop/Desperado-Valencia digging with medium and one to Andysuckers where I just lost too many Agendas early).

I just took out the Universal Connectivity Fee and included Enigma because it can never hurt to steal a click and basically just have one more type of ETR-ICE. Especially once the Midseason Replacements hits Data Raven doesn't scare anyone anymore. And even the Information Overload doesn't stop the run after trashing the runner's rig, so having at least 5 hard ETR-ICE in the deck had me worrying less. It actually won me a game at the Regionals, too.

All in all, this is a really powerful deck. I don't have much to add to Jakodrako's write-up on it.

@Eldraian I've already given Jake a lot of shit for making this deck. It's quite the monster. Well done on your win!

I've experimented with Gutenberg a bit in this deck. I've found that it's great for either taxing the runner (no one wants to break a STR 6 sentry or pay a 7 trace, so they take a tag and it taxes 2 credits and a click as well as dictates when they can run, which is still great IMO) or strait out killing them if they don't realize your game plan and run last click. However, the ice falls into the same trap as Data Raven does, in that it's useless once either Midseasons hits or they give up and accept tags as a part of their life. I might just take them back out and add in the Enigmas as you have, but I was curious what you thought about the inclusion.

I like Gutenberg, but I like ETR-ICE, too. It wasn't legal for this Regional, but I don't think it would've found its way into my deck if it had been. I wouldn't want to replace a Data Raven, simply because it often scares a runner so much, that they completely ignore my flooded HQ until they find an answer (if they even have one, Str 4 sentries are a pain). It might be worthwile to swap 1-2 Pop-up Windows for Gutenberg though. Those often end up in front of my R&D anyhow as a little tax and Gutenberg can nicely fill that role as well, as you pointed out correctly. At least until they decide to go "tag-me". But that might be worth it, considering you can maybe catch a careless 4th click runner off guard with it. But on the other hand, if the runner is careless against this type of deck, you will probably end up burning down their house eventually anyway. I'm not quite sure if I'll give it a try but I sure don't think it's a bad idea.

Reclamation Order over Archived Memories? The idea behind Archived Memories is Click 1 Scorched, Click 2 Archived Memories, Click 3 Scorched. Reclamation makes this impossible and gives the runner a whole extra turn. What was your rational for it? Congrats on the win.

Well, the Reclamation Order is pretty much just a safety net to make sure I can burn through some meat damage protection. I rarely ever had to though, but it can be utilized to grab back some econ as well if needed. At one point it even saved me the game when I got 2 Project Beale out of the archives against Noise. It also enables you to drop your dmg cards once a kill seems unlikely and get all scorches back if it's back online.

On the other hand, I've been in a few spots where Archived Memories would've served me better, so maybe I should consider dropping it.

I'm almost embarrassed to be suggesting such jank, but how about Sub Boost to solve the ETR issue? It's actually quite good on Gutenberg, Data Raven, and Information Overload after the Midseason lands, making these ice relevant again (and quite taxing, I might add). The timing of it is obviously a drawback, but as a 1- or 2-of, it might not be too much of an issue. Just a thought.
