Cash Control (2015 Johannesburg GNK Winner)

tuism 310

Cash Control took first place at our local identity-draft tourney along with my, much more interesting IG deck Veronica. - everyone in the tourney drafted an identity beforehand (so no two players played the same runner or corp), and built their deck with that identity to play in the tourney. Was tons of fun. More info on that here.

I built Cash Control because when it was my turn to draft from the runner pool, what was left was Iain Stirling, Nasir, Professor and Whizzard. I took Whizzard.

And because the Industrial Genomics deck was bound to run long games (it didn't really), I made a do-or-die deck that plays fast and loose.

  • Eater enable Account Siphons.

  • Knight for everything else. The worst I've had to do was Knight a Paper Wall when my Corroder wasn't coming up and I wanted to get in THAT TURN. But you usually hold it as a silver bullet when they think they're safe. But dropping it preemptively is also a good way to pool up agendas in HQ while you build towards going tagme postal.

  • Same Old Thing are more Account Siphons (or a turn for the corp to trash).

  • Deja Vu can be more Siphons if needed.

  • Keep the corp poor. If they stack HQ (and they should), go to R&D with Keyhole, which is also Eater-compatible. Parasite everything. D4v1d everything big (mostly a Curtain Wall fixer).

  • Hold IHWs if it smells like Scorch. This deck is actually pretty resilient to nukes because of 2x Plascrete + 3x IHW. I've often installed Plascrete, get scorched, drew back up with IHW/s and never had to use the Plascrete.

  • Closed Account will ruin your day but I didn't see anyone run it. Read the game and spend exuberantly (Keyhole runs fit this very well) if you smell it.

  • Your misc Resources are mostly there to let the corp trash and spend turns while you prep for Keyhole doomsday. If they don't trash them, all the better. Especially Joshua B.

  • Corroders just in case, it's a decent surprise if the corp thinks you're running Eater exclusively. Gets rid of Wraparounds too.

  • One Diesel because I don't want to run Quality Time because I already have Symmetrical Visage (another trash target once you get your use from it) and Vigil (I really should be running Legwork but of course, no influence).

  • Remember the Hades Shard trick if you smell a Jackson around after Keyholing.

It's really, really dumb and really, really straightforward, but damn it's effective. The whole day I was saying sorry for dropping Siphons. A typical game will see me Siphoning once or twice, maybe three times in one turn. THAT'S a credit swing.

Whizzard creds can easily add up to a bonus of 10+ throughout most games these days. He's a reluctant hero now, with everyone but Weyland big into the horizontal game.
