NEH Scorched Earth (5th Place Middleton Regionals 2015)

Slio9 197

6-2 on the day and 1st seed going into Top 8. I've never been a fan of Tagging or Scorched Earth as an extension, so I built and piloted this list to force myself to become more familiar with the playstyle. My wins were split 3 from points and 3 from Scorch. Unlike most of the 'Butchershop' variants I used to build this list, I included a pair of SanSan City Grid to allow a secondary game plan if the situation demands it. Overall a successful venture into a different deck archetype.

After my experience with 'butchershop' scorched decks, I think 1-2 SSCG is definitely right, or using SFSS and bluffing against clot players. Its much cheaper, and works on normal advancing too.

No Gutenberg? Seems like it would be right at home here. Could even go to 2x Data Raven / 2x Gutenberg.

Also, how did Cortex Lock work out for you?

@cranked Considered Gutenberg, the main issue I had with it was after it's known that you're going for a Scorch Plan, nobody is going to be running on Click 4 unless they've gone Tag-Me, making it a leakier but slightly taxing Data Raven. It might be worth it though, I did feel the ICE was just off in some manner. That or another Enigma.

Cortex Lock was sweet about 50% of the time and either useless or not around the other 50%. It's main purpose is to try and snipe I've Had Worse before the kill turn, but it also punishes early runs. Reclamation Order is the obvious other card in that influence slot, and I liked it how it was.
