Lady, Rex, and the funky bunch

zeegermans 7

Pretty New to netrunner and don't presume to say I'm all that great at it. My goal in posting decks is to ask for advice on how to improve my warped brain children.

This deck uses cards like Scavenge, Aesop's Pawnshop, and Test Run to take advantage of it's Cerberus ice breakers abilities, cards which are powerful at there installation but become useless over time. Theres nothing quite as satisfying as trashing a Cerberus in exchange for an identical cerberus whilst making a profit and buffing the snot out of your rig.

If this deck sucks please feel free to tell me. I CRAVE feedback.

I have an Exile deck that uses a similar concept. After play testing I found that Cuj.0 and Rex just aren't worth the influence. Also like my deck, you have a ton of ability to tutor so having your programs at 1 is not a problem. If you can free up the deck space that way you can end up putting in some more draw power like Diesel which will help. Capstone is fine and all and frankly its a pet card of mine that I want to be good but sadly it doesn't cut it. I make use of London Library in its place to get a turn of free programs before letting it get trashed or pulling them back to my grip. There is also combo ability between London Library and Scavenge. You can go ahead and message me on OCTGN and we can talk more about Exile deck construction.

So a few suggestions:

1) I would replace Eureka! with something else. This card only saves you 2 installing Magnum Opus, and Lady is only one cheaper. It also doesn't save any clicks for the draw. I would suggest replacing it with Diesel.

2) You may need some form of multi-access. Whether it be from Maker's Eye or trading those Easy Marks for an HQ Interface. You have Magnum Opus so you really don't need the them.

3) I think switching the CyberSolutions Mem Chip for a Akamatsu Mem Chip and an Astrolabe may suit your memory needs. plus Astrolabe gives you even more draw.

I like what your doing with Capstone easy way to turn extra Aesop's and Magnum Opuses into card draw. To get the most out of it you will have to use it when you have multiples of those cards in hand.

Otherwise I'd be interested in how it plays. I've only toyed around with Lady which is a powerful Fracter with the right support cards.

I agree with most of the comments above, apart from the one that approves of Capstone. Capstone costs a click to draw, a click to play and an Opus-click worth of credits to pay for. That means it has to draw you three extra cards just to be breaking even. When you click Capstone, you could always just be clicking for a card, so the extra cards I'm talking about are equal to [cards drawn - 1] each time you click it. Let's take a best case scenario and say you click capstone to discard three cards twice. It's then drawn you four extra cards for a profit of one card. That's the same net profit as Diesel, but with a bunch more faff.

With Aesop in the world, memory issues are not enough to justify the choice of Easy Mark over Cache. Especially not once you realise that drawing and playing Easy Mark nets you less for your s than clicking Opus twice. In general, the presence of Aesops pushes you towards swapping out Opus for Sahasrara in order to move towards what some folks call a 'Gamble for Days' economy. Scheherazade and a couple of toolboxy programmes like Sharpshooter complete that package. The idea is you can play any programme you don't want as a Sure Gamble - play it for free with Rara credits, gaining a credit from Harry then sell it to Aesop.

Atman is good on its own, but it almost always comes paired with at least one Datasucker. That combo is just too badass to ignore. I echo the sentiments above concerning Diesel and Astrolabe. Diesel justifies the overused phrase 'auto-include' in Shaper decks, while Astrolabe is great for any deck that doesn't want another, flashier console. Since exile doesn't mind throwing stuff in the bin too much I might even suggest pushing the card draw package a step further with one or two Quality Times. If you go down that route then also consider Levy AR Lab Access. It's particularly good for exile because he gets to play all of his recursion a second time.

Sadly I have to concur that the Cerberus breakers are not playable as a suite. Lady is amazing, and Rex is playable in criminal where he doesn't cost influence. I don't understand what FFG were thinking when they printed Cuj.0. That's great news for your deck though! You can upgrade your breakers and gain influence while doing so. Breakers exile particularly likes include D4v1d, Femme Fatale, Cyber-Cypher and the one-shot killers (Sharpshooter, Deus X, maybe Faerie). Mimic and Gordian Blade are solid in any deck.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I don't spend a lot of time brainstorming decks, i mostly just build, playtest, edit, rinse and repeat until i've got something I like. what you see here is my base design so all your comments are unbelievably helpful
