Katemeleon

It's been a long, long wait since Chameleon was announced. Finally, it has arrived.

The ideas:

Deck Thinning -

Replicator is nothing new, especially in Kate, but there are critical pieces that need the acceleration. LLDS Processor was an include suggested by a friend the instant Chameleon was announced. Coupled with Net Ready Eyes, and if needed, a Datasucker, and there's not much Chameleon shouldn't be able to do. The Inside Man was a lynch pin in a list I found here on DB a long time ago, and getting one first turn means big things for this deck.

Economy -

I'm a big fan of Scheherezade, especially in a deck with Cache and Aesops. Pile on SMC, even if you decide to make the cash from it, and there's a nice chunk of change flowing through the deck. Even though Inside Man cannot be considered econ, you can always pawn him. :)

I chose Autoscripter just as that extra touch. You don't need it right away, but it's amazing if you do. Later game it creates that one extra click you always need.

There you have it. It's some tried and true ideas with only the lightest touch of jank on top. I have high hopes for this build and will update as I get more plays in.

Why no Sahasrara ? Would seem worthwhile to swap out 2 scherazadhe for 2 sahasrara since they would allow free chameleon installs (and +1 onto scheherazade). Given chameleons, cache, datascuker all fighting for space, seems like 2 akamatsu's would be a good addition (and synergize with replicator) or 2 astrolabes (or dinosaurus for extra chameleon goodness). I think the decks biggest probalem will be draw and dropping inside man for pro-co or symmetric + quality time might help.

Sorry Sruman, but it seems like we are trying to make two entirely different builds. :)

It's highly unlikely for me to need more than 4 MU in this build. In addition, you cannot spend the credits from the Sahasrara for anything else, whereas with the Scheherazades you can install for free and constantly get paid in credits you can use elsewhere. Between Kate and the Schehe, I doubt I'll pay for much.

People often underestimate the value of an early Inside Man. He combos in a great way with Kate and Replicator.

Pro Co is expensive, with nothing to discount it.

Replicator thinning is REALLY AMAZING. If you haven't tried a replicator build, I would search the top rated lists for one, it's an amazing thing. Diesel is enough for what I'm trying to do.

Generally speaking, it could be that your approach works wonderfully, but it's not the deck I'm trying to build. :)

I've been playing around with Chameleon a lot, and it's biggest hurdle isn't the click or cost (though you need to have a plan for those), it's that every time you run a face-down ice, you have to guess what it might be. Statistically, you're going to guess wrong 66% of the time, probably more since you'll probably guess Sentry more often then not to avoid faceplanting an Architect or Komainu.

The best way around this limitation that I've found is Personal Workshop. You can host Chameleon on PW, run, and then decide what it breaks after the corp rezzes ice. Suddenly you go from 30% correct guessing to 100%. The only problem is that it doesn't work with Net-Ready Eyes per the recent FAQ since you can only boost breakers that are installed.

Beyond that, I think your econ package is a little odd. Aesops only really works with Cache, and Inside Man is really hard to get working properly - you need to see him early to have any effect, and once you get set up he's a dead draw. I'd drop the Cache for a Parasite and a Scheherazade, and drop Aesop's and Inside Man for Daily Casts (clickless econ is important with Chameleon) and Kati.

Hi hbarsquared. While the econ looks crazy, I've done it before with great success. Since Aesop can eat anything, that means that Replicator, Autoscripter, Clone Chips, and SMC can all be targets; and should be at some point. Also, my favorite target is Scheherazade as I usually keep the duplicates in hand. I eat it, then install a new one, and with Auto out it's free money. :)

I'm not entirely sold on Net Ready, but I want more plays to see how it works out. Honestly, as sruman said, Astrolabe might need to be a thing in this deck.

I believe you on the economy, but I'm curious how you deal with face-down ICE. Especially with Autoscripter in play, guessing wrong seems like it would have big consequences. You only have so many SMCs and Clone Chips, and as you said you're selling them off for cash more often than not.
