Faustonomy (1st place GNK Games Of Berkeley)

Inermis 745

After the release of Hayley Kaplan, people staring to explore possibilities of the new ID and new cards that came in the Breaker Bay. Playing on OCTGN I run into a guy that played fun deck with Game Day and Beach Party. I liked it so much, that I started to tweak it. Since few months I played different variants of it:
- stimhack economy (hey, i have 15 hand size, i can play more than 10 stimhacks!)
- pre-paid economy (nothing special)
- personal workshop economy
and a combination of all above. All of this deck had similar issues, they had bad early game and good or insane late game. But in meta with FA this deck was just to slow.
But one card changed it all - Faust. Now you can get into any server in mid game. Late game is just insane, when you can decide if you want to pay for ice with diesel or sure gamble. Trying to kill you? Well with 15 hand size they can try. People were asking for a deck list so here it is.

The base engine is pretty solid and this does not change. Other decks are playing similar:
2x Adjusted Chronotype
3x Beach Party
1x Gene Conditioning Shoppe

The economy engine is also pretty complete:
3x Prepaid VoicePAD 2x Lucky Find (love to have 3 but Clot)
3x Dirty Laundry
3x Sure Gamble
3x Power Nap (really great in this deck)

Draw engine (and economy when Faust is out), I need this QT to sometimes draw into missing pieces of main engine:
3x Diesel
3x Game Day
2x Quality Time
2x Levy AR Lab Access

Multi access:
1x Legwork (You can always SOT or Levy for more)
3x The Maker's Eye (They are all prepaid so that's better than RDI )

There are still some meta choices and moving parts here:
- Astrolabe, Clot - are for NEH
- Plascrete Carapace - instead of 2nd SOT - because I ended too many times with 7 cards after doing Makers Eye on R&D, to double scorch me. ;)

Other choices I would play is:
- Comet instead of Astrolabe for click compression and 1 MU
- one more Lucky Find
- one Clone Chip (But I prefer one more Levy)

This deck went 5-0 (one with a timed win) on GNK tournament in Games Of Berkeley. (vs new NBN, NEH, HB, GRNDL, Tenin)

Here is a how this deck plays. Unfortunately not the hardest match up vs IG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u92ORO55Mpo

Really fun deck! I played a few games last night with a slight variant (Clot swapped for a third Lucky Find, Study Guide instead of Gordian) and it did quite well. I worry a little bit about having no recursion besides Levy, especially for Lady, but I guess that's what Faust is for. SMC and Quality Time were the most frequent dead draws, but I would want to play more matchups before cutting. The extra Lucky Find wasn't entirely necessary either, since I was pretty loaded all the time, so I might try changing it into another Legwork.

The beauty of this deck is there is no dead draws with Faust this is just economy cards :) Late Game SMC/QA is just a card for Faust, but in meta with NEH you have to be able to pop out Faust in first turn from SMC to run Astro behind Quandary. So that's why I am playing 3 SMC. I have played a lot with 2x SOT instead of 1x SOT+1xPlascrete, that feels better in terms of second legwork. But still I legwork mostly in mid-end game, and after that I R&D lock with ME. Then Levy, and continue R&D lock. I have never lost with this deck in late game due to missing Legwork. Yeah, but maybe early legwork when they have SanSan setup is a good idea.

What makes me wonder... why Hayley as ID? Do you really need her passive?

To speed up against NEH it's better thank Kate. You can set up much faster. And other cool stuff is:
one turn: Double Beach Party -> Game's Day -> Adjusted Chronotype
during run: SMC -> SMC -> install from hand

And you actually don't need 1 credit from Kate, cause you don't install so much. Only advantage Kate is that you can Pre-paid -> Sure Gamble first turn. But you don't mulligan for that.
