Brewing Ronins - 2nd Place at Argentina Open 2015

Windave 280

Well, we finally had our biggest tournament since we started running our little netrunner community in Argentina (a place where the cards aren't so easy to get and we don't get any official support from FFG). We had 19 persons participating, so we did 4 rounds of swiss and a top 4 double elimination. I placed 2nd with this deck and an Eater MaxX.

This is a pure flatline deck, inspired by Cambridge Decks but focusing more in the Ronin threat. They can either run everything and die of Brain Damage + Flip, or they can let you have a double ronin fire (this way I won the match of the double elimination) or a Ronin + Biotic Labor + Flip trigger, for 5 damage (pulled this one during the second swiss match). Biotic Labor give you so much flexibility to trigger ronins or to score an agenda that I sometimes want to add a second one. It only won one match by Agenda Points (managed to have a mushined The Future Perfect on the table from the beginning of the game until I had 4 points) while all the others were by flatline. Would have been harder to win so much vs Feedback Filter or Deus X, but no impossible. One of my opponents, a very good one in fact, lost two matches by Ronins and the next day told me that had Deus but wasn't aware of the "prevent all net damage" because he always used it for the AP Subroutines. Well, those things can happen!

This deck won 3 and lost 1 in swiss. Then it won the second match of the double elimination but lost the third versus the current and three times champion, the great Durín. In fact, the only two matches this deck lost was versus Durín and his balls-deep-facechecking 4-advanced-ronin's Noise.

It was an amazing experience, I learned so much. I felt myself how after you played 9 matches your mind starts to get tired, and with all the nervous of having reached that far you start to reason wrong or hurried and you end up making a lot of mistakes that, after playing the match or after a few seconds you cannot believe you actually did them (like no rezzing that Lockdown that could have prevented the Had Worse that saved Durín, fuck me!)

I wish our community can keep growing and having lots of tournaments like this one, and someday we could have official support from FFG too.

Cheers!

Saludos!

I've been toying with Biotic in Brewery decks for a bit now and I absolutely love this. Glad you did well with it!
