German Nationals 2015 - 2nd place

Mythras 317

This is the deck that I played at the German Nationals 2015. I had to play all three tournaments:
- 2 qualifiers on friday and saturday (about 45 players each, 6 rounds of swiss)
- the actual championships on sunday with 32 players, 5 rounds of swiss and top 8 double elimination

Some stats Overall: 9-10
- vs. Kate: 4-1
- vs. Noise: 2-5
- vs. Valencia: 0-2
- vs. Whizzard: 0-1
- vs. Reg-Ass MaxX: 1-0
- vs. Leela: 1-0
- vs. Ken Tenma: 1-0
- vs. Andromeda: 0-1
As you can I see this deck wasn't that successful and I got carried more by my runner deck (Noise). Against Kate and Criminals you still have a really good matchup. In 2 of the games (against Whizzard and Andromeda), I was horribly flooded otherwise I should have won these.

How to play this deck:
This deck is designed to play relativly fast and overwhelm the runner with asset and upgrades spam, most of which are almost "must trash". Against shaper it is often possible to not ICE up HQ because you want to start scoring as fast as you can. There are rarely a lot of agendas in HQ.
Against criminals it is often enough to play around Account Siphon. Having enough unrezzed Assets and Upgrades to prevent the runner getting any money from AS leads to the criminals not being able to trash all the stuff you have. As criminals also don't have Clot, it is easy to close out the game with some fast advance.
The most difficult match-ups are Anarchs in my opinion. They have cheap solutions to most of your ICE (standard Anarch breakers and d4v1d) and most of the good Anarch decks pack Imp. Especially Valencia with Desperado and Clot gave me a lot of problems because she can trash most of the stuff easily and prevents the closing of the game with Clot and Blackmails.
Noise is also not a good matchup but atm no generally useful deck has a good matchup against Noise. Best chance here is to rush really hard while Noise is setting up. You won't win a long game against Noise with Clots.
Best way to close out long games: Drain the runners economy with DBS, Campaigns, baiting runs into remotes etc., then rez a SSCG and start scoring agendas. Bonus: Also having a DBS up makes finding the correct agendas much easier.
In the early game it is generally possible to find scoring windows without fast advancing. One ICE + Ash or sometimes just one ICE can be enough.

Notable Includes
Director Haas' Pet Project: Shoutout to mediohxcore for giving me the idea to include this card instead of the 2nd Chronos Project. Scoring the Pet Project can give this deck a lot of tempo because you have so many assets and upgrades that can be put into the new remote. It's also able to recur a milled agenda against noise which may make this matchup a little bit better.
Against Kate or Maxx a scored Chronos Project can just win the game outright. Getting right of Clot or all of their Economy is often enough.
Cyberdex Virus Suite: It's easy to "hide" a CVS in on of your remotes because often times the runner does not have enough time to check everything. This makes fast advancing possible again.

I completly agree with your analysis that Noise & some other Anarch is the weak spot of this deck. Thats the reason i didnt bring my similar HB cause i feared too many flavor of the week Noise decks. I really love the DBS include in yours though.

I have been playing this deck (or, rather, another version 2 cards off this list) for about a month now and I have yet to lose against Noise in about 12 games. I feel like this deck actually has the best Noise matchup in the game.

I also chose this deck because it has a better Noise matchup than FAstro, but I often got really close to winning but in the end didn't manage to score the last agenda. Noise always squeezed out a win either in Archives or R&D.
I think the game in the final against Heinzel I should have won. I got to 5 points really fast but tried to score out the last agenda too fast.
Two of the other losses actually were against a Noise variant with 2x Account Siphon. It can slow this deck down a lot if you have to protect HQ too much.
And sometimes I was ready to score out but even with DBS wasn't able to find the last agenda I needed. So I guess those losses against Noise were part bad luck and part missplays. But I also don't see another corp deck that has a better matchup against Noise and still has a decent chance against the rest of the field.

2nd place german nationals and the former german champion claim the noise matchup is bad, world champion states the matchup is extremly favored for the corp.

I am confused.

Maybe it just doesn't matter what matchup mediohxcore is playing, he is always favored. ;)
