[Nerdrunners] Fist of the Morning Star v1.0

markusfriend 571

Overview

What seems to be becoming a typical Anarch build, but with a secret weapon - Morning Star.

Morning Star destroys barriers! It can be a bit expensive to install and the 2MU it needs is a little annoying, but once it hits the table it shatters pretty much any barrier the Corp dares to rez (and if the barrier is more than 5 Strength, then D4v1d will make short work of it). Paying 1 credit to break any number of subroutines on a barrier is so good!

Let me know if you have any thoughts and feedback, and check out Episode 15 of Nerdrunners for more on this deck.

Yeah, any raeson not running Retrieval Run?

@Dydra While there's always Clone Chip to pull Morning Star back if it all goes wrong, I guess I don't want to give the Corp the chance to ice up Archives with a barrier to stop the Retrieval Run plan and cost me more time and effort digging for the other copy / bringing it back from the Heap.

The 5 credit saving would be nice, but Liberated Account and Kati Jones usually give me the credits I need to install Morning Star.

I have a secret desire to be happy with Morning Star. Why Ed?

@vor_lord At a guess, I'd say because Ed wrecks shit with that big hammer of his. ;) Corps love operations and Eddie eats them for dinner.

My FLGS has a league that awards achievement points for winning with certain IDs. Edward Kim is one of them and I've been looking for a solid and fun build to try to score with him. FOUND IT.

It makes sense. A Morning Star is a lot like a giant hammer.

@vor_lord @Leviathan @PackBenPack I chose Edward Kim mostly because I've never really played him. To be honest, I think this deck would probably work quite well out of Whizzard as well. But since you save a lot of money getting in to servers once your breakers are out, you can use that money to trash assets and upgrades and use Kim's ability to wreck the Corp's operation econ and just generally disrupt their plans (especially if they involve flatlining you).

And yeah, Morning Star is basically a massive hammer and I wanted to give the deck a silly name :-)

@vor_lord Recently I've been enjoying paying 1 credit to get past Eli 1.0, and not caring how many other pieces of NEXT ice got rezzed because no matter how many subroutines the NEXT Silver gained it was only ever going to cost me 1 credit to break them all!

Morning Star definitely brings much happiness!

@markusfriend why 2 Legworks over 2 HQ Interfaces? Same influence but you get to reuse the interfaces. Granted there is the surprise value of the event, but that I think I'd rather go with the consistency.

@razortoy I guess it was for the surprise factor, but you're right, the constant HQ pressure makes much more sense. Thanks for your comment, I will definitely be swapping Legwork out for HQ Interface.
