Opus Andy - Hadrian's Wall Tournament 1st place (54 players)

Angedelo 1352

Heavy Siphon, Shutdown & Forged Activation Orders focus. Opus for late game, to feed the crappy ninja & so i can float tags. Went 5-1, beat Titan rush, NEXT rush, HB FA/Rush, Waldemaar HB & NEH Butchershop. Lost to Haarpsichord Astrobiotics.

Well done on your win! I had a real problem beating that Titan rush, and caused me to drop my only loss as runner :(

@PeterCapObvious It helps having 3 plascretes! Twice I played Express Delivery in that game and ended up taking a Plascrete Carapace both times. But that was out of necessity as I'd let him get a Project Atlas with 3 counters on it and I had a million tags already.

Congrats on win. I'm curious, given legworks and same-old things what were your considerations for Express Delivery over Fisk investment seminar? Additionally, given Zu with a deja vu to get it back if it was trashed, did you find Rex useful?

@sruman Cheers!

Universe of Tomorrow was not legal for this tournament - it's not widely available in the UK yet - but yeah FIS is in the updated version. Although having said that, I found Express Delivery to be really useful. I didn't expect to, but was happily surprised. I'd possibly go -1 ED, -2 earthrise, +3 FIS.

Rex never saw play, but even with deja I still want a second decoder to increase the odds of seeing a breaker in my opening 9. I used to play passport but as a backup I'd prefer something that can actually pressure remotes if needed.

@sruman I can answer some of that, only cards up to Old Hollywood were legal as UoT isn't out over here yet :)

I've played against this deck online a few times and my god is it fast to set up, Andy 9 card hand doing great work there. Once it is up there are few places you cant go. I hate to think what this will do if criminal get a better standard Sentry breaker than Ninja................

Hahahahahahah ... this is almost identical deck to what a friend played an year ago ... Will never forget what he said " NR is a stupid game ... this deck is winning since core and still is "

Interesting, I would say that the fact a deck with many core cards along with some cards from across the cycles, can win tournaments is a good thing for Netrunner. It shows that the power creep with each pack/cycle is not out of control (like it has been with some CCG's in the past).

you dont play Inside Job????? how do you beat FAST NBN or RP¿

19 Sep 2015 aero

How's about a Femme Fatale instead of Ninja? I know ninja might be stronger in some situations, but having to pay is having to pay, and with opus the bypass might still be a good option.

@yosuv In all honesty I haven't done serious testing with this deck. Prior to the tournament I'd played it at our local meetup a few times, at the pub a few times, and at a GNK where it went 4-1, losing to Seamusmodernism (http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/26483/seamusmodernism). So it hasn't had to win against RP or Fast NBN! Indeed the game against Haarp FA went very badly, although I put that down to pilot error more, as I was convinced it was the Hades Fragment combowombo effort.

@aero Yeah I agree, the version I'm on now has Femme in it and I'm happier for it. Femme is great as another control card - when I can femme a tollbooth, it's effectively another emergency shutdown, leaving me other targets to actually shutdown.

Hey been playing this a lot and enjoying it. What are your thoughts on drug dealer instead of earthrise. ?

Also is fisk really the right draw for this deck. I have found it to be quite beneficial as Corp. Timing is cruicial when playing it e.g. remote lock, full Corp hand, agenda flooded.

30 Sep 2015 Angedelo

@miggypops The version I'm playing at the mo has 3 Fisk Investment Seminar and 2 Express Delivery as the draw engine. Although, I know what you mean, I'm not sold on Fisk Investment Seminar - I too have been quite pleased to get 3 free cards as the corp.

Problem is, what are the alternatives? Drug Dealer is an option, but the deck goes tag me more often than not so they won't stick around for too long. I guess the corp spending time and money to trash them is fine also, but sometimes you really just need to fire through your deck to find that thing you need!

Please let me know what you come up with if you're gonna tweak it and test it, I'd be really interested to hear what you think.

Thank you for your thoughts and getting back to my questions. Im running -3 Express delevery, -2 Earthrise +3 drug dealer, +1 easy mark.

Drug dealer starting hand is real nice and once magnum comes down its like a proco.

Easy mark could be anything. Im happy to get it down to 45. Recomendations? Im thinking Fisk, Express delevery, Drive by, FAO, Inside job, Legwork

Did very well with the original deck on jinteki, played about 20 to 30 games. Beat some strong players.

I have Games night on monday and going to test adjusted version properly against some strong players. Mean while will be packing games on jinteki.

@miggypops Interesting, I may well give that version a shot at the pub tonight.

As for the final slot, any one of those options you mention seems strong, not having inside job or drive by is a bit upsetting, but I built the original with a specific focus & I'm personally rarely sad to see FAO so I think I'd be tempted by a third copy if there's room. A first turn FAO - special order - install - siphon can really speed up your start and slow them right down.

Cheers for your insight!

So I've down some more testing, but really I'm just learning all the matchs ups for it. It's solid and crushes a lot of decks. I settled on drug dealer as my only draw people just don't seem to trash it. They probably should though. But then I just slam down another then another. I'll take the credit exchange.

Weakest match ups are boot camp glacier. And hb. Not unwinnable but definitely got to be on top of your game. Setting up fast and emergency shutdown oai curtains is the name of the game I feel. For hb I have settled for e3 feedback as a silver bullet. Those itches and Eli's just get blown though next suite is a bother but it is what it is.

Tag and bag is laughable.

But some of the new ice in DnD render this deck a little useless namely resistor.

Femme I think is definitely the better call. You shutdown archers if they rerez the bad pub is just killa.

So I'm taking this to the gnk on Sunday.

  • 3 express
  • 2 earth rise
  • ninja Toss up on rex or passport
  • 3 drug dealer
  • femme
  • e3 feedback

Otherwise banging deck and sTill enjoying it.

@miggypops Glad you're still having fun with the deck, although after you play it as much as you have, and tweak it, it really is your deck now.

Please let me know how you get on at the GNK, maybe you can kick my ass with my own deck on jinteki some time.

My modds to this increible deck:

-1 Ninja -3 express -1 Corroder -1 Dejavu -2 Carapace +1 Aurora +2 earth rise +3 drug dealer +1 femme +1 e3 feedback

@yosuv Thanks for the kind words friend!

Nice timing, I'm due to play criminal at a team event in a week or so and I haven't played any since the Hadrian's tournament, so I reckon I'll pick up your changes as my starting off point!

What's the E3 for? Just HB? My initial fear after not playing this deck in a while is HB Glacier - Assassin, architect, ichi, Turing are all problematic I feel.
