Study Guide Kit

JackWalters 3

Kit with Study Guide. Uses Surfer/Paintbrush in the same way as Surfer Quetzal. Stimhack + Study guide + Kit ID gets you some early aggression, and buys time to set up for end game surfer combo.

Janky as all hell so comments on how bad this is appreciated.

@JackWalters I am a huge fan of Kit and have played pretty much every kind of jank she is capable of.

That said, I really like the include of Stimhack that's pretty brilliant and can pump the Study Guide up very quickly for early pressure.

Personally I find that Study Guide and Surfer both scream to have Multithreaders included. I suppose the Stims help here, but in the long run I think that some MTs are going to do a lot of work for you.

I'm also not a big fan of Magnum Opus when playing Paint Kit just because it is so click intensive.

If you could work in a different econ that would free up memory for the Multithreaders.

A cool thing to note is that even if you don't make a run on a given turn you can still use the Multithreader credits to pump Study Guide and once SG is pumped up MT pays for Surfer and sub breaks.

Didn't mean to write so much, but Janky Kit decks make me passionate haha. Cool deck anyways, have fun!

@Gilgamesh_KoH Thanks for the input, I'm also a big fan of Kit and really want to make Study Guide work effectively.

Just played a few games with this and after dealing with RP with Enhanced Login Protocol I think I can agree that Opus is waay too clicky. I had thought about including Multithreader previously because it does add up prefectly with Study Guide boost and Surfer but I wasn't sure how to make the influence fit.

I think dropping a stimhack might make it work, but I also came up against the issue of having limited multiaccesses so the deck probably needs R&D Interfaces as well.

I would go -3 Box-E -3 MOpus, +2 Multithreader, +1 Astrolabe +1 Akamatsu Mem Chip +1 Legwork.

Then I would try to rework the economy. You probably don't need 3 Self-modifying Code and 3 Test Run I would probably drop the Test Run. Also Scavenge doesn't feel like it is doing anything for you. Then you can fit in some Daily Casts and Dirty Laundry for some econ.

I basically took your concept and made a ton of changes to it at work today. I posted my version so you can take a look. I tried to get rid of all the dead draws, but in exchange it will probably be a bit slow. I added 3 Same Old Thing and 1 Legwork to have more multi-access opportunities. Take a look and let me know what you think.

@JackWalters @Gilgamesh_KoH Being a huge fan of Kit also I can vouch for how powerful Multithreader is, and that Study Guide, (while requiring set up), is very powerful late game; and yes, Stimhack is also good at boosting the breaker. Paintbrush is always an interesting one, especially since you're only running 1 breaker. I'd just always bare in mind that Paintbrush can only deal with rezed ICE, and as Kit's ability turns off after the run all it takes is for a clever corp to not rez the outermost piece during a run and force you to wait until your next turn, since they might be saving the outermost piece as a Destroyer Sentry if you want to run again that turn.

Kit demands aggression to work, but the tools she needs cannot be trashed, otherwise you lose a lot of progress. It might be worth adding Sharpshooter or Sacrificial Construct to allow that kind of pressure, to ensure that you don't lose a 10str Study Guide.

@Gilgamesh_KoH Took a look at your deck, and I'm liking a few of the inclusions, especially Escher. I think I'd go for a slightly different econ suite, and I'd also run Clone Chip if running only one of Study Guide and Paintbrush. Fair point on the Test Run/Scavenge as I find it only gets uses maybe once a game, if that.

The only thing I don't like is only running a single Astrolabe and Akamatsu, seems like even with all the draw power you might be slow to get your MU to where it wants to be.

@Mechanoise Definitely a fair point about Kit's ability, I do suffer quite a lot if someone plays around her ability and knows what the deck is trying to do. Sacrificial Construct seems like a good call to avoid all kinds program destruction, e.g. Power Shutdown.
