Mad Hatter

First attempt at a Jinteki non-PE deck.

Still very limited card-pool, but it seems to be working by slowing down the runner using traps or bluffs. Still a lot of work to do!

UPDATE: Changed some of the ice for program taxing like Ichii or Rototurret, also a Matrix Analizer that complements pretty good with Tennin ability. Waiting forward to get my Batty soon and improve it more! <3

Your description certainly tells a story here. This deck would be very suitable as PE. I am not sure this works as well with Tennin Institute. Tennin only gets to use their special ability if they lock the runner out of all central servers and remotes. In this case, I think you are not really running enough ice to sufficiently tax the runner. That is to say, I think this deck has serious issues against security testing and desperado.

That said, I am glad to see you try this in Tennin. Let us know if you are having success with this deck. I might have forced myself to think that tennin only plays centrals + 1 remote with heavy defenses in front of all of them.

I am curious why there are just two medical breakthroughs in there. Why do you not just run all three?

If you are playing the shell game, have you considered running Ronin?

Hello! So exciting to get some feedback :)

I've been playing this deck quite a lot against my partner, who has run criminal and shaper, and I find this deck to adjust pretty well to different play-style. True that against criminal Tennin ability gets a bit lost, but the ice is program taxing and that is a b**ch against a non recurring faction, and it becomes a new incentive to run for a faction that actually runs a lot anyway so... more trapping.

And yes. Ronnin would be a nice add, but the 4 advancement tokens required seem a bit too much - usually it gets accessed before I get there or not accessed at all because of the 4 tokens on it. Does it work for you? And how do you make it work?

I've made some addings to the Ice, with some program taxing ice. About the 2 Medical Breakthroughs... I could easily -and I am, actually- lose the Philotic and adding one. Though I'm receiving new cards this week and I'm freaking excited to be able to add some Batty to the mix.

@Severijn - Language question - thing about my description telling a story was ironic?

Ah, what I meant by that is that this deck shows your dedication to jinteki PE. It reads like what I would expect a jinteki PE deck to be and to run. That is all that I meant. Again, I come from a mindset where my non-PE decks look very different from my PE decks.

It is hard to get Ronin advanced. In personal evolution I run it next to cerebral overwriters, project junebugs and other nasty traps that can be advanced. When I play PE, I try to act like there are traps everywhere and hope to get it advanced to 4 while undefended. I can then proceed to kill them with some combination of Lockdown, neural EMP, house of knives, brain damage or even multiple fully advanced agendas that I can score at the start of the turn. Clicklessly doing 1 or 2 damage at the start of a turn is really nasty with ronin.

In Tennin I lock the runner out from all of my servers with economy taxing cards like tollbooth and hard to break sentries like mamba. I leverage Tennin's ability to advance it slowly over multiple turn, threatening to have it be a cerebral overwriter instead. In these Tennin decks I try to accumulate power tokens on Mamba. Mamba is a great ice to have the runner keep running through. Eventually they run into another lockdown and I will just mamba them to almost no cards and kill them with a Ronin. This also works really well with the jinteki flip identity.
