Easy Mark for Days v1.2

Another little update to this. Main changes are -1 Corroder, -1 Clone Chip, +1 Self-modifying Code, +1 I've Had Worse.

In previous versions I've found 2 main ways I was losing games: not finding breakers quickly enough, and the good old-fashioned "getting killed" thing.

Why SMC and not Special Order? It's a fair point, but I love SMC - it's especially terrifying out of Criminal, and the fact you get an extra draw and usually some money out of it doesn't hurt either.

It takes the guesswork out of R&D runs with Spy Camera, and there's also the surprise factor: with SMC you can install & Siphon on the same turn, which you can't do with Special Order unless you want to float tags (and you don't).

I've Had Worse helps solve two major problems - lack of draw against rush decks (even with Geist's ability, you spend a lot of clicks on cards early on) and questionable protection against kill decks. With Logos, 6 cards in hand and 2 trashable cards out you're Scorch-proof anyway, but IHW gives more scope to keep the pressure up along the way.

when you SMC , you draw the card first and get the card you want to install, you will be super regret.

I've asked about this, and according to a playtester, Geist's ability triggers after you resolve SMC's ability in full. Which means you don't get the Tech Writer money first either, but hey ho breakers are cheap.

There was some disagreement about whether that's true or not on the thread though - let me know if you know an official ruling on this.

If it does work the other way, the worst case scenario I can see is you draw the Corroder you wanted, faceplant into a barrier and have to tutor a Faerie or something instead.

Sports Hopper is definitely a possible replacement for I've Had Worse once Salsette comes out, as it provides excellent Scorch protection + draw without the influence cost. If I do that I'll probably swap back to 2 Corroders + 2 Clone Chips.

The reaction starts when you trash so you would draw first when firing a Self-modifying Code: twitter.com

Ahoy, thrown my current version up over here: netrunnerdb.com

Really sad to lose the Cortez chips, if I could squeeze them back in somehow I would love to. The ability is a nice little surprise, and it's yet more synergy for the techs/Geist.

I'm running Forger (it always baffles me that you don't :P) and Film Critic, so they combine to give me some solid meat damage (via tagging) protection. This lets me keep the second Corroder; I know it seems indulgent, but like you I was suffering from early game lockout when I don't find my breakers. Second Corroder means I can reasonably get everything online in the first 10 turns-ish.

Are you still finding Logos worth it?

I've tried a few games with a Forger version and I think I just never had a game where they "went off" (probably failed Siphons or just didn't see my Siphons) so I went back to Logos. I should really give them more of a chance.

I like Logos for a few reasons. It really helps in situations where you're having trouble finding either specific breakers, or enough Hostage/Tech Traders. The ability to tutor anything is really, really powerful (especially here) and it means that even when you're behind, you can bounce back surprisingly quickly.

The hand size is just gravy, and the +1 MU lets me run Sneakdoor Beta comfortably. Sneakdoor's not really a vital part of the gameplan, but it always helps, especially when you want to install some Pol Ops for minimum effort.

So yeah, it is good and I think it fits better than it immediately appears. That said, I'm definitely going to give Forger a proper shake now.
