McGonagallfork v1.2

McGonagall

Dumbledore was dead, leaving control to pass to his deputy, McGongagall. She understood that maintaining continuity was key: the school was used to him and the way he had led it, so she had little choice but to continue in his footsteps. While she had not spent as much time building contacts outside the school as he had done; her powers as an animagus had led her to learn a lot of information that could prove useful. And besides, should the school really need Dumbledore back, well, she was the professor of transfiguration , after all.

More seriously

The starting point for this deck is dumblefork, in val, with rebirth and blackmail and a few more tweaks. I took this to the Swansea regionals where it would have only dropped one, but for a pair of really, really stupid game-throwing pilot errors (sorry deck). This is the list post that with a few further changes.

Val's bad pub makes her a mini-whizz, and immune (once) to all-seeing I as well as turning on blackmail, which is an even better breaker than parasite. I've been playing blackmail recursion on RnD and saving the cutlery / parasites for remotes.

Cards of note.

Queen's Gambit over Sure Gamble. The lack of career fair makes getting your cash levels back up really quite tricky. Queens gambit is an influence free lucky find that works from 0. Okay, you need an unressed card on the board that you know is not an agenda, but if they don't have that, then their board state is sufficiently behind that you can probably afford to click for credits instead (or sufficiently ahead that you are screwed). It pairs well with either Councilman or Political Operative in the flex slots.

Rebirth. Almost always you will be rebirthing into Whizzard. That extra bad-pub means trashing almost anything you encounter will cost you (at most) a credit.

Making an Entrance. Val's downside is obviously the 50 card deck, so the standard whizz setup of triple IHW+wyldside is not enough. For the tournament I ran 2 Inject and one of these. While inject always seemed kinda bad, this I was always happy to see. It combos really nicely with wyldside, allowing you to set up what it will feed you for the next few turns, or helping you find wyldside in the first place.

Flex

Since you are going to be encountering ressed ice less often, the ice destruction is mildly less important, so you could drop a parasite for an influence, and/or (as I've done) go down to a single knifed (you are running a second Same Old Thing, anyway). During the day, I think I used a cutlery event once, but parasited quite a lot of things; as McGonagall finds her feet and moves away from the old headmaster's style, swapping some of the cutlery for further acceleration in the form of street peddlars might well be an option, but I've not tried it.

You could also make the econ more like the original dumblefork and put two career fairs back in, but employee strike is really, really useful. I ran two on the day, but on reflection a singleton would have been enough since vs IG, you can just wait for it to show (especially if you have a slums). A polop would have been really handy though for caprice, so that is what is in at the moment.

Salsette slums is optional, but it is really, really good for making asset spam very unhappy.

Swapping the plascrete for a sports hopper is also something I shall be trying - you do have triple IHW, and if you can figure out it is kill, then rebirthing into Edward Kim, has proved a very solid option.
