Stealthy "Smoke" - (NewBee needing tips here!)

Morkrog 1

Hi, I'm a newcomer to the game and I'm wondering if my builds are ok. I don't seek to play in tournaments at the moment, but I'd like to enter the game by the right door: knowing what I'm doing! I'm open to all your comments, especially critic ones :-) Thank you for your help!

... and sorry for my poor English...

demolition run without any (non-event) multi-access doesn't really do a lot, to you it essentialy reads:

make a run on R&D/HQ trash the top card if successful

however if you were using it in conjunction with medium or R&D interface then you will be trashing a few cards off the top of R&D which makes it much more worth it

@willstaThanks! So basically, would you cut the demolition run and add any other cards to the deck (or just cut them as I'm already at 43)? Or would you cut the maker's eye (for example) to add medium/R&D interface?

Demolition run is a fun card but Willist is right - you need non-event based multi access. Basically, if you are splashing influence for something you need to make sure that thing is doing WORK. R&D interfaces are a good choice although I think you could get even more aggressive with a medium on top perhaps? Unfortunately demolition run and The Maker's Eye are not compatible because they are both events (this is called a nonbo).

Spending influence for Special order is unnecessary in Shaper because they already have Self-Modifying Code which is better in most circumstances. So that gives you 6 spare influence to play with (enough for a medium or two? :P) :D You might want to consider taking out Blackstone for a more efficient breaker like Paperclip although Blackstone is not terrible. Personally I find Refractor better than Houdini in most cases but some people make a case for the other way. As you are running stealth you might want to consider Dai V instead of Crypsis :)

The Toolbox is great once it's on the table but it's a big tempo hit to install (8 credits is a lot). If you're planning on hammering R&D you might want to consider Mirror. Astolabe is cheap MU and great for free card draw against a lot of corps.

All in all I think you have done a good job! My early decks were shockingly bad so you're definitely on the right track :D

  • I would add multi access there if I want to use demo run. As pointed out by the comment above me. mind the influence as well. 3 demo run would probably overkill as you already pack 3 same old thing. I would cut into 1 or two demo run. The multi access you have right now does not go together with demo run ( Maker's Eye)
  • I would reconsider your breaker suite. Crypsis is not a good AI breaker. You could use atman or brahman. Since you only pack 1 of each breaker you might need SMC for this and ditch the Special order. You can use the influence for something else. Plus you get to use SMC to call the breakers mid run. Which is a very nice feature for me. Since I like face checking ICE. SMC would keep me safe.
  • The toolbox is too expensive for a console. I would bring astrolabe or other options.
  • The world is full of current wars out there. You might want to packs some current of your own. The current I always bring is Employee strike. Very handy vs blue sun or RP. Customize this to your local meta.

Just my two cents. Hope it's useful.

If you're playing green one Beth Kilrain-Chang almost never hurts.

@willsta``@Rahrhino``@Dazzler``@dawspawn: Many thanks for your tips! I'll remodel the deck around a R&D rush on your counsels :-)
