HB Amalgam (1st Boise Regional)

AkAnderson 484

This is the deck that I won Boise regional with. It went 3-0 in the swiss with an ID and 3-0 in the cut. Unfortunately 2 of the games in the cut went to time and I probably should have lost the one against the DLR Andy. Gameplay can be seen here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/152516740 3:25:15 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/152581717 1:49:10 2:40:15 4:04:29

I've had this deck or a deck like it sleeved up and on hand for probably around 18 months and it's what I default to when I don't know what corp to play. This is derived from the deck that yeoda and I played at worlds 2016. I feel like this deck is pretty balanced against most runners in the meta and it just comes down to playing correctly. You normally want to try to force a 3/2 in a remote early, score the next 4 points using fast advance and then have the sleepers come in at some point.

Specific Card Choices:

Domestic Sleepers: See Above

NAPD: Its Good and I had influence

Marilyn: This was Launch Campaign before TD came out. I really don't like assets tying down my scoring server and Marilyn never gets trashed. Out of 6 games, with Marilyn coming out at least twice in all of them, it was never trashed.

Crisium Grid: Having 2 here really helped against the heavy criminal meta that I faced.

Ark Lockdown: This can be your 2nd FIHP or something else. I kinda suspected there would be some Clot, but I ended up using this for Blackmail against the only Val at the tournament and for an Andy's Paperclip.

Eli: Dan D had it right in 2015 saying Lady is so efficient, why run more barriers? Well, now its Paperclip.

Fairchild: This card can lock down your remote by itself. No one wants to run through this to trash SSCG.

Going forward I'll probably try -1FC 3.0 for something spicy like Holmegaard. The deck had more money than I thought it would so I think it can splurge a bit more.

Shoutout to the Hackaholics and to rumirumirumirumi for running a great event. Thanks to all of my opponents for great games and also thanks to the Montana crew that came down and provided such awesome prize support. Thanks to yeoda, shmeguy and cyberzack for letting me play this boring ass deck against them all of the time.

Hit me up with questions and please go easy on bashing my bad plays on stream.
