Honest Ayla

LeNoble 16

I really liked the idea of Ayla "Bios" Rahim: Simulant Specialist as a Shaper version of Andromeda: Dispossessed Ristie. Shaper is the faction I've played the most, and with all the tutoring available, Ayla seemed like someone who could set up fast and efficiently. Here's my take on straight forward Netrunner, where you make money and run.

GETTING STARTED

Your goal is to get Magnum Opus out turn one. For your ID ability, always keep Magnum Opus, Scavenge, or Test Run. Besides those three, the next best are 1-of cards, Self-modifying Code, or Dhegdheer.

In your mulligan, keep whatever will get you Mopus turn one. Next best option is draw or Self-modifying Code. Having a Beth Kilrain-Chang early is great too.

THE GAMEPLAN

This deck is really simple. Get Mopus out, get breakers out, and run. The Gauntlet and The Turning Wheel give you multi-access alongside Equivocation. Beth Kilrain-Chang can let you click for 10 against rich corps. Camp their remotes or pressure HQ or R&D with multi-accesses.

Dhegdheer is excellent as it can be tutored and avoids any issues with getting your rig set up.

TECH CHOICES

1x Feedback Filter helps with the Jinteki matchups. 2x Clot for the Fast Advance matchups. 2x Sacrificial Construct for both maintaining clot and preventing your programs from getting trashed.

Speaking of program trashing though - this deck is very resilient to that. If your Magnum Opus gets trashed, you can always Scavenge your Paperclip to get it back! Scavenge Paperclip to get anything back is a really helpful feature.

Rebirth is almost always into Rielle "Kit" Peddler: Transhuman to use the efficiency of Gordian Blade. Also, against a Skorpios deck it gives you more breakers to avoid Hunter Killer lockout. Against the NBN matchup it would be better to go with Jesminder Sareen: Girl Behind the Curtain too. If it's really glaciery then maybe Ele "Smoke" Scovak: Cynosure of the Net but I haven't needed that yet.

1x Misdirection helps against tags, beyond that just make sure you use Mopus enough to stay above credit thresholds for various threats.

The 2x Laguna Velasco District might be better as an Earthrise Hotel however I do like the control over the card draw that the Laguna allows for. Your plan is to get your breakers out asap and start pressuring remotes, then draw into your multi access. With earthrise I found you often had to install/play all the cards that you were drawing into and it could get a little cluttered.

1x Maven against Mythic ICE and sometimes it's more efficient late game against big ICE. It's not always used, but when needed it's the best AI choice I've tested.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! The toughest matchups tend to be the ones that aim to deck the runner one way or another. You also have to be careful against Cerebral Static, but that card is so rare that it hasn't come up as an issue yet.

Had to publish a couple times because I accidentally used non-revised-core cards...

How did I not realize that Ayla is Shaper Andy! Good stuff in this deck.

@yosempai I know! It's not as quick as having all those cards in your hand immediately, but you can control when they come available so with that in mind it's a great place for your 1-of cards or combo pieces. Also, putting a Paperclip in there so that you can draw it as a 6th card and discard it is pretty efficient. So far I've really liked the NVRAM concept.
