gotta go hemo (2014 Portland Regional 2nd Place)

This deck went 4-1 in swiss and 2-1 in double elimination. Indexing, Siphon and Dirty Laundry + Security Testing forces the corp to heavily ice all three centrals before they can slow you down. Hemorrhage + Legwork is an incredibly powerful combo and if they have an agenda in hand you're either going to find it in hq or archives if they pitched it. Indexing + Siphon + Hemorrhage allows you to control the corp's hand and their credits so you can go for big fast scores or play an aggressive control game when there's a drought of agendas. Public Terminal lets you earn money with Ken's ability and probably saved me 10+ credits per game. Security Testing is amazing and turns an undefended server into free money, and has great synergy with Desperado, Hemorrhage, and Dirty Laundry. And because it is going to get asked, 'why force of nature?' There's no room for Yog+Sucker as Indexing and Hemorrhage are key pieces of the deck, Passport handles the code gates on central servers, and Force of Nature is slightly more efficient than Peacock for small code gates and they break even on big ones.

Great deck — I would have loved to see this vs. NBN:MN FA in the finals if you'd managed to reset the brackets.

Yeah, man, this is definitely clever. I too wish this was played in the Finals, would've been fun to watch!

Looks great, something I've seen as an auto include for Ken was Planned assault, could let you drop one Indexing for Makers Eye + something cool.

Also with the running nature of the deck, John Masanori to keep the run events flowing. Then again not sure what I'd take out, probably early bird.

Bro, you're getting a like out of me on the basis of running Force of Nature alone!

Also, may I ask why Desperado over Doppleganger?

Seems like the synergy with both Security Testing and Hemorrhage would be especially strong here. It would even make it reasonable to have 2 Security Testings out, turning that one click into 4 credits (and possibly 0 clicks into 5 credits, with an Early Bird and a Public Terminal)

@PeekaySK - Max you can make off Security Testing per run is 2c, unfortunately you can't stack effects. If you have two out you can name different servers however.

Hey Peekay. I feel like desperado vs doppleganger in this deck is actually a hard choice. There were definitely three times in the tournament that, if I had doppelganger, the extra run would have won me the game. Instead, I had to either let them score an agenda or let it go from rnd to their hand and then hemo+legwork it outta there. However if I had run doppelganger, I can definitely think of a lot of situations where I would have needed to burn clicks for a credit or two in order to get in or when doppelganger's extra run wouldn't have done me any good. Ultimately I decided on desperado because doppelganger can really let you press an advantage but is occasionally super dead. Desperado is always giving you one credit back. But this deck is barely two weeks old, I wouldn't be surprised if doppelganger is way better than desperado and I just didn't test it enough.

@karmaportrait Two servers were implied (since Security Testing is a replacement effect). I just didn't mention it because I assumed we're beyond that point here :P

@nobodyhasthis Yeah, it's obviously a tough choice (due to how undercosted Desperado really is). I'm testing a Doppelganger version, and there's three things I found with it:

  • Hemo becomes super-important to have out, as it gets tokens like crazy
  • That version really wants a Johnny M
  • Siphon either needs more support (like, Crash Space instead of Carapaces), or needs to be dropped altogether - that version really wants to keep its Security Testings on the table

Losing the Desperado credits hurts on occasion, but overall I feel the deck becomes better at what it does best (Indexing with Doppelganger is just... brutal).

Also, I feel like the breaker package needs to be tweaked a bit, but I haven't found one I really like yet. Will report back :)

With the inclusion of Public Terminal and the prevalence of Jackson Howard, I would rather play The Maker's Eye than Indexing. Sure, Indexing digs deeper, but dodging Howard and breaking ice twice is a heavy cost too.

13 May 2014 Alsciende

By playing The Maker's Eye, you can replace Force of Nature with Gordian Blade -- or Cyber-Cypher on their scoring server >:-)

13 May 2014 karmaportrait

@PeekaySK - yeah that's my bad... =P

13 May 2014 nobodyhasthis

@Alsciende - I originally tried maker's eye but it whiffed way too many times to make it worth it. It also doesn't give you the level of information and control indexing does. Jackson Howard is not a problem at all against this deck, they either exile him to save agendas you hemorrhage or exile him because security testing turns his server into free money. And you can always just run jackson and trash him. Just don't index when he's on the table, it's as simple as that.

Security testing a Jackson Howard that is popped only pays if he's protected, of course.

14 May 2014 PeekaySK

Of course, but it forces the pop, which is kinda the point.

14 May 2014 Alsciende

Still, Cyber-Cypher would make a fun combo with central-only breakers :)

No redundancy against lost breakers alas. I'd personally run Planned Assault instead of an indexing, and swap Force of Nature for Peacock. Use the extra influence for 2x clone chips. Force of Nature costs more to install and isn't 'more efficient enough', as Peacock is cheaper to get through Yagura and Tollbooth.

Wouldn't Zu.13 be strictly superior to force of nature unless you're afraid of power shutdown?

Same influence, same strength, costs 1 to bring out instead of 5, breaks routines @ 1:1 instead of 2:2

20 May 2014 Captain_Frisk

@Captain_Frisk man you're a jackass. Zu is 2 influence!

20 May 2014 PlutoNick

@Captain_Frisk no reason to talk bad to @Captain_Frisk. I am sure it was an honest mistake!

This is a super cool deck! So weird to see Force of Nature in a deck, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess! How'd Early Bird work out for you? My experience is that its never been as good in practice as you'd think it'd be.

I have been testing a doppleganger version of this deck and I have been pretty pleased with it overall. The ability to sometimes just spend 0 clicks, gain 3/5 creds, a card draw and two hem tokens is pretty awesome.

I dig this deck. I will post my version of it after I take it to a tournament this weekend.

Does anyone think we could update this with Three Steps Ahead ?

11 Oct 2014 Exo

@x3r0h0ur I was thinking the same thing too.

Even maybe Feint too be sure to counter Crisium Grid too could be a good option. With the big box coming, we should see more Weyland.
