An Exploration of Throwback Format: Kakur-Oh-No!

Baa Ram Wu 1843

I'm going to be posting a decklist a day looking at the interesting side of Throwback Format deckbuilding.

What is Throwback Format?? Simply put it's Standard but you can add 1 full playset of a rotated card OR play with a rotated ID - Eric aka Whiteblade is running a Charity Tournament on the 5th using this tournament! More info here - https://www.hemophiliamb.ca/events/netrunner-tournament/

Now please feel free to stick 3x Account siphon into your reg 419 or Caprice Nisei into your Jinteki Glacier but if you could just wake me up afterwards from the coma inducing slumber you have put me in due to your unimaginative deckbuilding!!

With only 3 days to go till the tournament we are onto deck 15!!! - which is suitably the cost to trash a Jeeves in:

Kakur-Oh-No!

Throwback Card: Industrial Geonomics

This is a deck very much based on Percomis's Daansgebak from 2019 (which I believe is based on a Tugtetgut deck originally) - once you have a flower sermon scored and a Jeeves and Political Dealings scored rolls out in unreal pace!

This version takes advantage of an extra scoring option if you using the combo of Jeeves and Kakurenbo to score 3/2's out of hand.

And if you haven't already figured out why that is so disgusting out of IG then just check that first line again - 'Turn all cards in archives Facedown!' Now luckily we don't have anything to poisen archives with any more due to Dome Ban so you are relying on your ice to tax the runner out but resetting your archives with 10+ facedown cards makes your Board pretty impervious to anything not named Imp or 'By any Means'.

Even just using Kakurenbo to recur a Jeeves with 2 pointless counters on it is a considerable play assuming archives is a pain to access. (It should possibly be a 3 of with 2x genotyping tbh)

Voter Intimidation is there to give you an option to deal with TTW as your ice has very little bite - it's really just there to shore up centrals whilst you get your machine working. (Sadaka would be another option that I always forget about)

Snare's are there to combo with flower sermon (which can give you some protection from Apoc by switching one onto the top of R&D before they access)

The Ice suite is there mainly to protect archives - a single piece on HQ and R&D and 1 to protect an early Jeeves/Rashida etc should do - The rest goes over archives, thimble rigs very helpful for moving your Tour Guides around. Quicksand is an idea for a barrier with a 'facecheck' to avoid 4 runs on R&D a turn - have I rezzed one yet? - not really! Envelope would be another 'option'

Your most valuable Asset is Jeeves - worth sticking behind a tour guide - as it fully enables both your scoring from hand options - luckily you have technically 5 3/2's and a 2/2 which can be scored with just a political dealings up.

Check Percomis's writeup for full details on the concept - then just move your thinking over to playing an IG deck

NB: I don't enjoy making prison decks, hence the very vegan option here, but there's defo something horrible out there - probably involving Ronins to be Kakurenbo'd!
