SYNChronised Splitting

mcg 1061

I'm honoured that quite a few people have said they're excited to see this list. But let me temper that excitement; at best, this deck is a work in progress (the four games I played today were the first I'd played with it). At worst, it's a bad idea. I'll let you decide.

In case you haven't heard, Reeducation and Neurospike are a ridiculous combo (I think Neurospike is a ridiculous card, full stop, but I digress). When you score Reeducation you can add however many cards you have in your hand to the bottom of your deck to get the runner to do the same. Then if you have a click left you can deliver a probably lethal Neurospike. It's reminiscent of the old Brain Rewiring trick.

Now, as fun as that sounds, the runner usually isn't in the habit of sitting back and letting you 'over advance' an agenda. So the idea is to try and create a fork ("split") where coming in to steal it lands them in a tag storm they can't escape from, at which point BOOM! brings about their demise instead. Said storm comes from having some combination of Funhouses and Border Controls on the remote, Argus style, and AMAZE Amusements at the bottom.

Alas, setting up this 5-8 card combo takes some time, so you'll need to mount some defences in the mean time, and be able to afford them. And this is where this list falls down, as I was always struggling to get some meaningful central ice rezzed and the remote protected. If there is something to this list, then it'll need more money and/or different ice.

Also, it has an awful match up with Tāo Salonga: Telepresence Magician and probably any other Shaper on Misdirection, so today's results don't bode well.

Anyway, if you've made it this far, here's some stuff to think about:

  • SYNC: Everything, Everywhere was chosen for the small deck size and the increased storm stickiness. NBN: Reality Plus would offer the same deck size and maybe a little more econ if the runner takes odd tags. Or you could switch to GameNET: Where Dreams are Real and look to make money off your ice.

  • Thoth was included as a fourth Funhouse but rezzing it always felt like a mistake. F2P was there just to have some sentries, but unless you can place it behind a Funhouse people usually just pay four to pass even without a killer. Turnpike would probably be better. Ping is a nice cheap option to land a tag, but then you're even more reliant on ice placement (I wouldn't trust it on centrals).

  • AMAZE could be Prisec instead, which would make clearing the remote more difficult, but then also requires money to fire.

  • There must be some better econ options out there but I couldn't find them. Both Predictive Planogram and Biased Reporting seemed underwhelming.
