My First Criminal Deck

greasy spicetaster 2

Hey Guys. This is my first time making a deck so I'm not too sure whether I did a good job or not. I only have the cards from the core set, Humanity's Shadow, and Double Time. I'm planning on buying more cards soon. What packs should I buy to get more criminal cards?

Any advice on what I need to do for my deck is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there, welcome to ANR! Without a doubt purchase Honor and Profit for more Criminal cards. It is the deluxe expansion with a whole lot of Criminal cards. Also comes with a whole bunch of amazing Jinteki cards, and who doesn't want that? :)

I will say your deck does look like it's your first... :P However, it does look a LOT better than my first. In ANR generally you want to focus, not spray. In other words, if you are trying to do to much and it will be difficult to do anything substantial.

As hard as it is, you will almost invariably want to play with the smallest deck available. Less cards will allow you to focus your strategy even more. Any extra cards waters things down so to speak.

There is so much to learn when you are new to the game. This is some advice to help start you off.

I also have a Youtube channel: www.youtube.com

Feel free to check it out. I cover decklists, record and commentate games I play in. Many have told me it has helped them learn.

Good luck, and happy running!

Thanks for the great advice man. I checked out your channel and it looks awesome. What cards should I get rid of? Also, are there any cards that I need to add to my deck?

I would cut xanadu for corroder for sure, drop lemuria and the personal touch, TPT for diesel. Same with toolbox. Criminal has teh best console in the game, desperado, so run at least 1 of those. I would drop 1 access to global and 1 kati and go up to 3 armitage. Maybe drop 2 fall guys and 1 other card for same old thing. Drop 2 kraken for 2 account siphon and 1 infiltration for 1 sure gamble. Drop 2 pheromones for 1 inside job and 1 easy mark. Drop aurora if you put corroder in, and add the 3rd easy mark.

Basically shore up the good cards, and include other flavor after the baseline is built. You can figure out what a decent gabe deck looks like by visiting stimhack or the hall of fame on here. Feel free to go through my deck history on here, I've played quite a lot of gabe.

I agree with most of what was stated above. Honestly just saying switch card X for card for y doesn't really help much unless you understand why. There are some basic things you want to do within a runner deck.

Have ways to create short term econ with cards like Armitage, sure gamble, maybe easy mark or bank job. But I like to have a long game econ solution also. Like Katie Jones or magnum opus. Which leads me to the next part of a deck, MU management. You will need too be able to fit your breakers in, and if you get a console in and then then you probably just want the other 2 MU for Sneakdoor. Simple is usually best.

Consistency is maybe the most important of a deck imo. Often simplicity creates consistency. In other words, play 3 of a card you want to see often, Sure Gamble is a good example of a card to almost always play 3 of. Cards like special order also create consistency because you can then draw the breakers you need or go get them.

Last thing is efficiency. Some things to consider here are money, programs/hardware, and ability to draw. Example, Toolbox might not be a very cost effective card for you. Gabe has the best advantage early. Not only is toolbox very expensive, it does nothing to amplify Gabe ' s strength as an identity. Corroder is another great example of a card that has great efficiency. Compare the cost of using it to aurora, and you will understand why it's better.

Datasucker and desparado are another great example of efficiency. On a successful run in R&D let's say, I get a credit from desparado, token on datasucker, and access a card. All in one click. And this is why it is in many tourney winning decks.

Just some ideas to ponder. Have fun and hit me up anytime.
