Nasir's Fast Break

BTrain 2971

The goal with this build is to run with your pants on fire. I've not been seeing as much success as I've liked with my big rig Nasir deck, "Nasir vs. Goliath." The deck is very slow, mostly because it has a lot of moving pieces that can be tough to wrangle into place, so I wanted to see what would happen with a cheap breaker suite that could get up to speed off workshop in very little time. Yogasaurus has been written off for a while now, but with Lotus Field being touted as the new hotness, this puts that 5 cost piece of ice to shame. Datasucker is in to drain other pieces of ice down to size, and the one-off Parasite is in as always to nuke the Pop-Ups and Ice Walls that can and do ruin Nasir's late game. Atman fills in the rest of the holes, and Sharpshooter is there as an emergency for when you facecheck that Archer.

The majority of econ, like my big rig deck, relies on Magnum Opus, which I'm a huge fan of. I've never really liked Kati with Nasir and Mopus is essentially a permanent Armitage. Aesop's fodder in this deck includes Cache, Imp, and Ghost Runner (which if you're careful with your runs, you can leave with 1 credit and sell for 3 before your next turn).

I tried to spend that 1 extra influence, but so far I think this is a solid build that doesn't need to waste space simply to fill the influence. That being said, I'm also working on a variant of this deck that drops Cache and Aesop's and looks to throw in some Forged Activation Orders and some Same Old Things. We'll see how this version plays first.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

While I do like Mopus with Nasir, an aggressive version should have Kati. It's simply a matter of economy. Kati is cheaper, allows you to run sooner and keep banking cash over turns. Magnum makes you waste your whole turn to get back up to a boatload of cash (which is great) but it's not very aggressive.

Some considrations: Yog.0 seems good until you run into Inazuma, wihch is heavily played right now. It can be dangerous to have Yog.0 as your main decoder. I'd switch to Gordian or Zu13, saving some influence. Datasucker is necessary with Atman and mimic, and it helps with Corroder enough of the time. Go up to 2-3.

Aggressive Nasir plays a lot like Gabe. After the late-game kicks in, he can really start plodding. I'm not sure Aesops is really giving you that late-game potential (and it's a slow card, anyway).

Love Imp. Keep it, if you can. I'm not sure about Cache with Nasir, though you might be on the right track.

@CJFM you keep me honest :)

I've had bad luck with Kati in the past, but I think you're right: offing the MU-heavy Mopus might be the way to go. The main advantage Mopus has though is that you can tutor it. It does come with a slight tempo hit, but I like knowing you can see it as early as you want. I'll definitely play around with both.

I do think you're right about the Aesop's as well, and I'm thinking Professional Contacts will ultimately net me more cash over the course of the game. ProCo was another bad fit for my big rig that I think I wrote off a little too early.

And I'm on the fence myself about Cache, because that influence can likely be better spent, but for now, it's a great renewable source of in-run economy that pairs exceptionally well with Ghost Runner. Before, corps could feel very safe putting an NAPD down behind a Pop-up knowing Nasir couldn't touch it, but being able to tutor money feels really good right now. I'll make some changes and publish the new deck soon!

Thank you for your feedback, it's always appreciated.

@CJFM I will say though, I think Yogasaurus + Datasucker is enough for now especially with the Atman support. Using your example, even Inazuma is a 5str. code gate and that gets broken by a Yog hosted on Dino. Gordian is overall a much more flexible breaker (I run it all the time in my other decks), but for this build I'll stick with a Dino-hosted Yog for a bit and see what happens.

@BTrain I am coming around to Yog.0-saurus, and it's a strong option for Nasir, seeing as it just decimates most anything you can throw at him. For some reason I thought you were Femme-o-saurusing (not sure why).
