I got destroyed by an Elevation scoring Ob, so I am learning the archetype. My thoughts so far from a couple games on Jnet
14 Cost
2x Biawak - It's an okay nearprint of Archer. Slightly weaker, with the benefit that you can rez it for credits, which I do more often than I expected. I tried playing 1x but I do not think it is worth using Spin Doctor to tuck the 1x Biawak back into R&D
6 Cost
0x Logjam - I haven't tried it yet. I imagine it does Envelopment's job better than Envelopment, since I mainly use Envelopment in the late game. However, I have been struggling with turn 1's and Envelopment does a better job of being in the opening hand. This is hard for me to evaluate. Perhaps 1x Biawak 1x Logjam would be a better split
5 Cost
1x Envelopment - Good against Bankhar, otherwise not great, no stellar 4 cost tutor targets. (Update: Great against propeller)
4 Cost
0x Syailendra - no ETR makes this an ill-suited, porous ice, as the advancement counters would work best in another deck where they could boost strength on Pharos, Tree Line, etc. I think Border Control and Hortum were better. Maybe this makes Anvil playable? But runners have so many easy trashables nowadays (Muse, Coalescence, Open Market). You could import N-Pot●● for more end the run subroutines.
1x N-Pot - I took a look at all the 4 cost ETRs and decided this was the best option. Huge downgrade from Border Control, which could also pop and spit out your best 3-coster. In the late-game, N-Pot is broken for 4-6c while Afshar is broken for 3c.
3 Cost
3x Maskirovka - Cleaver is banned, which makes this great ice. Bonus, it refunds itself on facechecks. Probably THE reason to play this deck
1x Sandstone - Weaker, more expensive than Maskirovka. Only better against Marjanah
2x Afshar - Strength of 1 really kills this ice. Barely does its job as a gearcheck. Better on HQ.
3x Mavirus - S tier. Necessary to tutor Regolith or gearcheck ice
3x Anthill Excavation Contract - Weyland Rashida Jaheem. It's hard to defend
2 Cost
1x Kessleroid - I need additional testing. Seems weaker than Ice Wall. (Update: It's amazing. Costs more to break than Descent, which matters for the early game)
1x Descent - One of the easiest gearchecks to bring out. Edges out Flyswatter, worse than Thimblerig
3x Regolith Mining License - Still getting used to knowing when to overinstall on this. I definitely lean too much toward emptying it/extracting it. I like it more than Anthill
1x The Holo Man - S tier. It is very easy to score 2-3 agendas with this card in this deck since I have not been seeing that many Pinhole Threading. Ob is the best at tucking Holo Man back into the deck and re-tutoring with Mavirus or Svyatogor Excavator+3c ice. You can even IAA, score blank 3/2s with an end-of-turn tutor'd Holo Man. The click compression works wonders against Hermes
2x Tucana - Persistent on steal makes this so good. Having a high density of 2-3 cost ice is important to have forward-moving Tucana triggers
1x Yakov - Better to play the second copy of Tucana before first Yakov imo. It could probably be replaced with a 2c gearcheck ice to have better opening hands
0x Mahkota Langit Grid - Still testing. It could save inf on Tranquility Home Grid●● (Update, it is okay, I thought the trash cost increase would come in handy, but it is a minor benefit. Tranq's ability to draw a card has been more flexible, and is worth the influence. Another win for Tranq: the 1c tutor slot is less competitive than the 2c tutor slot)
1 Cost
1x Tithe - Best 1 cost ice. Mainly used to be the outermost ice to blank Bankhars
1x Tranquility Home Grid - Works wonders in an upgrade-heavy deck. Mavirus-popping on the opponent's turn also lets you double-dip into tranq triggers.
1x The Powers That Be - I was beaten with this card, but it seems pretty easy to contest. Playing these makes playing Svyatogor Excavators more worth it, since you'll be recurring ancillary early-game scruff from Archives
1x Hearts and Minds - Is this a single-time use? Not sure if it is worth the install. I'd rather play Slash and Burn Agriculture and get value off Armed Asset Protection. In about 30% of matchups I have enough ice to put 1 ice in front of Archives.
1x Wall to Wall - The loss of advance-able ice like Ice Wall makes this worse than it used to be
1x Idiosyncresis - I've found this deck to be quite credit hungry. Does that mean the deck is unoptimized? Perhaps. (Update 1: I added more etrs. More etrs means more emptied Regoliths, so Idiosyncresis is not needed, but it was fun to Holo Man it. I'm not sure what to do with this unused inf so I added a second tranq grid, and then tried Powers, floating an inf. Update 2: I went back to two Tranq since they are so much better in the early game than The Powers That Be)
0 Cost
3x Spin Doctor - Still figuring out the best recursion targets
1x Svyatogor Excavator - I've seen lists play 0x, 1x, 3x. Sometimes it gets me out of an economic hole or helps convert ice/asset into asset/ice, but I'm not sure how necessary 3x really is.
Operations
3x Extract - I believe you play the third copy of Extract before the first Hedge Fund
2x Armed Asset Protection - Still need to try it (Update: Horrible on turn 1. Hedge Funds might be better for consistency)
1x Hedge Fund - Consistency since I'm trying out different ice suites and upgrade mixes
0x Petty Cash - It might work against sabotage decks? (Update: Hedge Funds seem better since Anthills cost 3c, you need enough burst econ on turn 1 to rez ice and rez Anthill/Regolith)
0x Kill cards - I still need to try them out. I think the archetype is called facet kill? I believe Measured Response could get a kill with Azef Protocol, but it is unlikely that a successful run happened and the Azef was not stolen, unless in a secondary remote. (Update: I took out Measured Response. I'd rather have more un-trashable operations)
Agendas
I've only played with 3x SDS Drone Deployments. Still figuring out if I need defensive 5/3s or more scorable agendas. If I play Eminents, do I need more Biawaks? If I don't play Eminents, how many Slash and Burn Agriculture agendas can I fit in?
Update 1: I tried 2x Off the Books, which were fine blank 3/2s
Update 2: I tried 2x Slash and Burn, which were fine Seamless Launches. I felt okay giving my opponent free points half the time, the other half I had a Spin Doctor
Update 3: Reduced Eminent Domain so that I could play 1x Off the Books, 1x Slash and Burn. I will need someone more familiar with Netrunner to make the agenda suite call.
Conclusions after ~12 games
I saw some cool Runner decks. Arissana Into the Groove Illumination Madani Urban Art Vernissage kickflips, Mag 6 icebreakers doom rig, Mercury and MuslihaT w/ Maintenance Access into S-Dobrado'd full WAKE Implant v2A-JRJ. Unfortunately seems like Anarchs are having a difficult time, though I haven't seen a Topan yet.
After switching Syailendra to N-Pot, that really shored up the central pressure, I was no longer getting Transfer of Wealth'd in the early game and I often was able to lock out the runner through econ. Only a mercury on Malandragem and Devadatta Drone was able to pick apart the 4-5 tall wall of ice. 3 cost ice is super important for tutoring out 2c cards, whether that be The Holo Man or Regolith Mining License.
Anthill Excavation Contract popping into a 2-coster is better than Rashida, but it needing to be in remote for 2 turns is fiddly to play around. It is definitely better early game than late game.
Conclusions after more games
It's a fun deck. It is easy to play turns quickly (on Jnet), it doesn't require that many clicks, and I don't have a hard time locking out Runners. I imagine, with all the tutoring, there are some interesting lines to eke out the last couple percentage points for competitive play. Thanks and I would appreciate some theory-crafting on the agenda suite!
I'd love to try out other variations (FA-only) (Asset-heavy) (Kill package) (MAD Kill) so please suggest some!

How many Cybersands are you running? And what's your ice suite looking like, are you running any White Space or Kessleroids or Hammer or Stavka? |

I'm on 3; it's an amazing jam turn 1 with even 1 HR in deck. My ice suite does feature a Kessleroid due to Seb being played and just needing 2c ice; I'm on Stavka and honestly kind of want to run a second. Right now I've been doing 2 Biawak 1 Mycoweb 1 Logjam for big ICE to tutor off of Em Dom, but I kind of want to cut the second Biawak for the Stavka or run more low credit ice. I have a ~75% wr on Jnet; the deck crushes Shaper and outpaced Anarch usually, but Crim is a scary matchup and flooding is consistently how I lose. I'm on 2 KPI to help mitigate that and might bump it to 3 (also synergy with HR recursion). I still need a way to defend from Deep Dive or Crim charging Twinning after I leak an agenda or two. |
As someone also on asset Ob, can I introduce you to the busted interaction that is Cybersand Harvester -> Humanoid Resources? With NCIGS abolished, Cybersand is always trashable and can fetch a 1 coster on your opponent's turn, ready to click your HR on your turn and tutor a Spin/Excavator. It is busted and difficult to challenge as it's a 4c trash or you can just eat their click for running it like Mavirus.
