I'm even more convinced that the Nanomanagement is just much better in the deck, but I'm still unpunished for having Holo Man in the list.
Literally just more of the worse version of Jai's Nuvem + Holo Man that I played at APAC Megacity with some ice suite changes -- I do think the Stavka threat is pretty real even if it never fires. I did rez one to be broken by Echelon:
Changes from The YOLO Man:
+2 Stavka −1 Winchester −1 Hammer
R1 vs JR on Esâ Afontov: Eco-Insurrectionist
After Running Hot and going down to 3 cards after a steal, I play a Measured Response to secure the win with a kill. – Win
R4 vs MiracleMira Hoshiko Shiro: Untold Protagonist
I don't have my tools in time and Hoshiko just out-econs me. Mira closes out the game easily with some remote contests and central pressure. - Loss
R5 vs @Smolgrump Ryō “Phoenix” Ōno: Out of the Ashes
I almost lose this one to a Stargate-d + Twinning-ed open R&D, but thankfully I have a Spin Doctor on the board and pull out the two revealed agendas on top -- luckily an Off the Books and Slash and Burn Agriculture. I proeced to FA for the win. - Win
R2 vs @CyberspacePanda Hoshiko
I rush out early and get to 4 points. Mon steals 3 points on a Basalt but this game goes to time. On my last turn, I try to fork with 1x Basalt in HQ and bait in the remote. CyberspacePanda doesn't take it and instead runs HQ for the 1-out-of-4 Basalt to win on time.
Rematch - Finals vs CyberspacePanda
I really felt like I was on the back foot the entire game. This was a pretty wild game, I literally purged 3 times during this entire game one, with 3 fermenters hitting the board on like turn 3 or 4.
Somehow I make it up to 6 points with double Basalt so each install in the remote is a potential win, but Hoshiko is almost well set up by this point. The game sort of turns again when I get a Hammer to connect on a remote run, hitting the Twinning and final Fermenter, putting CyberspacePanda up to 6 points.
After they run a baited Wall to Wall in a remote, Hoshiko is left on zero credits. They run R&D for a single access and end their turn with just 3 cards in hand. That turns the single Measured Response I’ve been holding into the win.
This Megacity tournament is a pretty big milestone for the Metro Manila, Philippines community as a whole. A lot of firsts!
While not all the plans pushed through I'm really happy and excited for where the community is in right now, so, some thank-you's are in order:
This Megacity does end our local big competitive events for the year but for sure we will still have Casual Tournaments and Game Nights and maybe other things cooking up.
See you all at APAC Continentals!
