Emea 2024 Throwback Aaron Marrón

This deck went 1-2 at Bergamo

In my team with Rhahi and Bridgeman I was happy to take the leftover runner that nobody else wanted, which turned out to be Crim.

My first idea was more on the meme-side, with a Leela deck using Hermes - twice as many bounce triggers! I played it with a few practice games but it didn't do too well. Meanwhile our veteran player Bridgeman gave us great advice about which rotated cards are strong, and I realized a lot of the strong corp cards are asset based. That's what led to this deck, originally named Won't lose to assets. It was extremely decked against assets at the start, but I realized just bankroll, doof and a bones is enough, and starting building towards this reg crim. Looking at the cards suggested by Bridgeman, Aaron Marrón looked the most fun, enabling me to survive against tag kills and also gives nice forward tempo by being able to draw on corps turn with a class act trigger and enabling me to play Rogue Trading efficiently in case I can't rely on a run economy.

Out of both throwback decks and both standard decks I brought to Bergamo, this deck is the one I spent most of my time practicing with because it's a lot of fun.

In the tournament it won against an R+, but lost against a PE who could play Accelerated Diagnostics to end of the line me without a tag, which worked because I had dropped 3 cards to running a snare the previous turn. It also lost against a deck that felt very anti-crim, it was Cereberal Imaging with RLC, Corporate Hospitality and YDL, whose game plan was just to just ice centrals (even playing Jinja!) while building money with drawing and YDL to finally win via Big Deal. I failed to find many agendas and my Hermes and central run value was nonexistent.

All in all the team tournament was very fun, and huge shoutout to my teammates Bridgeman and Rhahi. Our team ended up at 5th place.

It is a nice deck that represents both throwback overpoweredness and standard regness, setting me up for crim matchup in the main event. Thank you for all the practice games!
