FFGC Regional Top 8: Oh look, a Whizzard deck.

Axlotl 2687

I played Whizzard at the Madison regional, where Spags' Whizzard deck also debuted. Afterwards, I made changes to bring mine more in line with his, as I liked what his could do. Whizzard was 4-2 in Madison, but the list was really different.

Whizzard went 4-2 in swiss (2nd seed in top cut).

Whizzard lost to Spags' NEH FA deck in round 1, and got scorched out in round 6 by NEH, after stealing 2 points, and getting Midseasonsed turn 2 (Turn 1 was sweeps, credit, restructure), and finding 4 more points, then hitting an NAPD with 3 credits in my pool. Never found the NAPD again, but a Scorch/Archived/Same Scorch found me. No IHW. Whatevs.

Beat (in order round 2 to 5) Foundry/Punitive, ETF (Jens), RP (Schupp), ETF.

E3 was added to shore up my HB matchup and and deal with large multisubroutine ice in Weyland without burning D4V1Ds to fast. I like it, but its way to inconsistent with only 1 copy, and you really can't justify cutting influence for 2 copies with its narrow applications. Probably has to go. Maybe a Special Order comes in for consistency.

Utopia Shard as a more versatile answer to meat than Plascrete would have been. Won me a game by dumping two from hand and checking archives vs HB.

Security Testing is a nice long term econ option backed by Data Suckers for value runs. Vs RP in top cut, I was running through an Architect paying 2, gaining 2, and making 2 sucker counters. I lost though due to Schupp's Hedge/Restructure/Celebrity Gifts econ package pulling him ahead after my aggressive double sucker triple parasite early game. Of course back to back Mark IIs I couldn't challenge also did damage, and I had seen the 5/3 in his hand once or twice. Beat him in swiss by going 2 for 2 on PSI games. Did not win any PSI in top cut.

I went with Deja Vu over Clone Chip for versatility. Was afraid of a bunch of butchershop, and Deja's fetch IHW and Shard back into hand. If you can boldly face check ice and not get wrecked, you get twice the parasites back also.

Deck needs more MU options. Not seeing Grimoire for half the game really hurts.

I don't really follow the competitive meta, so I don't know how to employ Atman in this case.

You already have Net Ready Eyes, so your fixed strength breakers are presumably 3 str or a soft 4. If you also have D4v1d to handle str 5+ ICE, that strength do you set Atman to when you install it?

I'd cut an Earthrise for the third Grimoire. if you're also running Symmetrical Visage you should be getting a steady flow of cards already.

@HofstaedtersPet Atman should be seen as a "shortcut" to solve many ices depending on the situation.
