After a long break from the game, my mental health wasn't in the best place and decided to commit to playing more face to face Netrunner (to spend time with the lovely EA Sports), and jamming in more jnet games while taking a break from my NSG duties.
One of the reasons for this write up was coming back into this game after such a long break, I found coming back so much harder than I had anticipated post FFG rotation - in that the card pool was so new, I didn't know the threats and quite frankly, I didn't know what was going on with the corp side.
So I wanted to a runner deck that let me focus more on their side of the board, rather than mine (aka my usual Shaper decks). Heavily inspired by watching Sokka online APAC streams (if you want to learn to play Sable, please visit his channel, it's amazing), this deck is lots of more and lots of draw, that allows you to interact with the board early if needed. This is a very similar deck to what Sokka has been running recently.
After a few mental hurdles that draw = usually means more econ, this deck (with the help of NWE and EA Sports feedback) has probably taught me more about runner fundamentals than all my time I've played the game.
Going to EMEA online was a last minute decision, that the Thursday pubrunner mention it was happening, and when I asked when, it was this weekend! So this and AU Co had been the decks I've been jamming in person and online, so there was little pre-competition nerves - I had what I had!
I'll probably focus on some standout cards (given most Sable decks are 90% the same). I have no regrets running 1 Boomerang, which I replaced the 2nd copy with Cups, which felt very right. Mystic does a ton of work too, and Nuka I would go as far as saying is essential.
The result from EMEA Online was, ironically, my highest placement in a big tournament (relatively speaking), going 2-3 with this deck, and 2 of those loses from 2 pretty bad lines I took to good corp plays. The matchups I had reps in was fine, the new matchups I struggled with.
Thanks to NWE (for the ton of coaching on my replays) and EA Sports - I couldn't have done this without you lot. You made me realise how to focus on each click and to be as efficient as possible with them.
If you are in a similar position to what I was with 'what the hell do I run after being away for so long', this deck is a great starting point.
