Snatch and Grab

Snatch and Grab 0[credit]

Operation: Gray Ops
Influence: 0

Trace[3]. If successful, trash 1 connection. The Runner can take 1 tag to prevent this.

The last thing he saw was the tattoo of a strange beast on his captor's neck. It had a goat's head, the body of a lion, and the tail of a serpent. Then the bag was yanked over his head, and there was only darkness.

Snatch and Grab can target the following resources: netrunnerdb.com

The commonly played connections worth mentioning are:

Some connection are hilarious to trash with this op: * Rachel Beckman (if the trace fires, she'll get kidnap or leave you), * Tri-maf Contact, * and Theophilius Bagbiter (although this is likely to be played with a bunch of decoys).

All in all, this card targets mid to long term economy, and successfully fires if you happen to be already winning the economy war. I thus suspect that this can be played in glacier decks to definitely set your economic advantage.

If you want to land tags via Midseason Replacements, the runner might just be running Film Critic in order not to steal your agendas. And if you can't get a tag on them, how are you going to land your kill package? (Film Critic also turns off Punitive Counterstrike.) So, then your evil corporate mind turns to cards like this one. (Rather than Corporate Town which requires an agenda and Weyland influence.)

Moreover, there's a natural companion to Film Critic, and that's New Angeles City Hall. This allows tag-avoidance (great for one-click siphons). But have no fear, Evil Corporate Mind, if someone uses NACH to avoid the tag, then the official ruling is that they have not paid the cost to avoid the effect, and so the connection does get trashed.

“Hallelujah!”, cry Evil Corporate Minds everywhere.

TLDR: use this to get rid of Film Critics who are cramping your Midseasons/Punitive game.

The flavor text on this card is a reference to the Identity cycle of books (Golem, Mimic, Rebel) which involves an clandestine group with a Chimaera tattoo in the Android universe. There are several other references to the books scattered throughout from NAPD Contract to Caprice Nisei.

This is a card I've been looking forward to for a while. It's nigh impossible for some decks to deal with Kati Jones proactively. Hellion Alpha Test isn't good enough right now, and the only other influence free tagging besides this is ice. Now, any corp can trash connections/tag on their turn without needing to burn influence. No bluffing to coax a Kati drain necessary anymore.

Kati Jones has become the core of my Shaper economy, so I am really not looking forward to this card making the rounds. The fact that it is neutral with zero influence does not help matters. This has a good chance of becoming the card I finally hate more than Jackson Howard.
