Tetraphobia - 39th Place at European Championship 2017

"Tetraphobia (from Greek τετράς—tetras, "four" and φόβος—phobos, "fear") is the practice of avoiding instances of the number 4. It is a superstition most common in East Asian nations.

The Chinese word for four (四, pinyin: sì, jyutping: sei), sounds quite similar to the word for death (死, pinyin: sǐ, jyutping: sei), in many varieties of Chinese. Similarly, the Sino-Japanese, Sino-Korean, and Sino-Vietnamese words for four, shi (し, Japanese), and sa (사, Korean), sound similar or identical to death in each language (see Korean numerals, Japanese numerals, Vietnamese numerals)".

I brought this deck to the European Championship 2017 in Birmingham (along with the Reina deck named "Schadenfreude" that you can find here on NetrunnerDB) because I strongly believe in this ID since the beginning and I think it is very difficult for every deck to play against it. In fact, this deck went 8-2 (and one of the two game that I lost was for an enormous mistake that I commited against a Maxx with no longer a deck because I removed it from the game with a Chronos Project XD) and I reached the 39th position (a good result for me and for this 2 strange decks).

This deck, since the beginning of the Lunar Cycle, gave me a lot of satisfaction, mostly because it's entirely my creation. Let me describe it.

  • With 14 agendas and the powerful effect of the ID, plus 3 Snare!, 3 Shock! and 3 Fetal AI, the deck protects itself from R&D or HQ multiaccess. Tax the runner with classical ICE like Pop-up Window or in the central servers (install in R&D a Prisec if you can, a very taxing card) and begin to build your remote with powerful sentries like Archer (you have a lot of disposable 1-point agendas) or Komainu.

  • Your priority is score the Gila Hands Arcology, because it's your basic economy, then let the runner wastes his or her money and cards during runs toward R&D for other, useless 1-point agendas. It helps you to gain at least 4 credits, even you start the turn with 0 credits, maybe because of a Siphon; in the moment you have 4 or more credits, you can threat the runner in many ways such as Snare!, Archer or Prisec. Try to end your turn with always 4 credits and the fear in the heart of the runner will increase: the name of this deck derives from this suggestion (it fits perfectly because the Tetraphobia is an oriental fear of the number 4 - Perfect for Jinteki XD).

  • Most of the games I've played with this deck end with the runner with no cards remained in the stack. Chronos Project is very usefull against Shaper and Anarch.

  • Protect your Jackson Howard if you can, because with Shock! you can easily control the run in archives, then protect some agendas in there.

  • Threat the runner with unexpected Scorched Earth or control his or her economy with Voter Intimidation: very useful against that bandit named Aaron or against that boring Critic!

  • Score your 1-point agendas in your ultrataxing remote, and rez Archer only when you can use its full effect (because is an unexpected ICE in this deck). Philotic Entanglement has never been so dangerous before as in a deck with 14 agendas!

Finally, I can ensure that this deck is very strong against Anarchs and non-Leela Criminals decks. Against Shapers, you have to rush agendas as quickly as possible!

Thanks for your interest. Feedbacks are welcome! :)

Ahahaha thanks Brainstorm, and you're one of the 2 that beat it up XD you destroyed me with an inhuman precision using a particular Geist deck piloted by a monstruos player (in fact, Criminal is a faction that usually I keep easily under control with this deck, exept for Leela). Very good game, I learned a lot from it!
