Turn 1 Janus

toddwords 19

The basic idea here is to rez gigantic ice (Wotan, Janus, Heimdall 2.0, Archer) using Oversight and Bioroid Efficiency, then make said big ice really hard/ painful to get through with Chum, Tyr's Hand, False Lead, and Project Wotan. Also leaves the door open for some pretty insane Accelerated Beta Tests (Archer, Janus, Chum FTW).

There is an incredibly small amount of econ for this deck, but up to this point it hasn't been a problem with the credits from ETF, and how little you actually have to spend rezzing ice.

This deck is really fun to play and has some wild swings. Sometimes you get Turn 1 Janus, sometimes you mulligan and get the Archer, Janus, 3 agenda hand. Haven't taken it to a tournament yet, so I wonder if it'd be consistent enough. Either way, lemme know what you think!

I have a very similar deck and I agree it's very fun to play. When it stumbles it's due to speed; the runner is able to get his economy going and rig set and up he can power right over the top of my Wotan/Janus server. I like the Junebug one-off and the Tyr's Hands as inexpensive ways of punishing runs.

Wouldn't it make more sense to run 3 PriReqs and 1 Project Wotan? You're nothing if not well-stocked on PriReq targets :P

Also, those Paper Walls should probably be Elis... and if you do find Econ to be a problem, I'd suggest two changes: Adonis into Eve and Tyr's Hand into Hedge Fund. Now, I know how sexy Tyr's best case scenario looks, but most of the time it's an install and a credit to make the runner spend one more credit. That's very very "meh", really. Hedges would definitely be more useful here, I feel.

Love it otherwise!

@Peekay I initially had 3 PriReqs and 1 Wotan, but I found I almost always preferred to have a Wotan than a PriReq in hand, the main issue being that when I have a good window to score I can play-advance-advance, then triple-advance Wotan under any circumstances, whereas I need to get a piece of big ice and play it to get the full benefit of PriReq. And yeah, I feel like Wotan synergizes better with BER, Oversight and Chum, makes the runner have to plan all sorts of contingency plans (especially if there's a false lead too) and can function as a Nisei Mk II in a pinch.

Tyr's is mostly there for to get runner to spend clicks rather than credits (esp. on 2.0 bioroid, esp. ichi to trash yog/femme), and it should be noted that it's almost always free since you get the credit from install.

I'd be down to try eve over adonis, main worry is that it clogs up guarded server space for longer in the early game.

Thanks for the feedback!

How about swapping the adonis campaign for melange corporations? Your agendas are well diluted so you end up with an empty fort. You could just mine for a while instead. It's always fun to hard rez huge ice. You might also try swapping jacksons for interns or archived memories to recycle stuff when you need it.

Cool, I dig the idea of melange, definitely better for midgame than adonis. I'll playtest it and let you know.

Um... the whole point of Eve is you don't need to guard her even once she's rezzed. Unlike Adonis or Melange, trashing an Eve comes at a significant cost (unless you're Whizzard, really).

That's why I recommend archived memories and interns over jacksons. The runner will run your melange and put quite a lot of effort and credits into it. Possibly he will end up broke so the turn after you can install an agenda he can't afford to run, or you might reinstall your trashed melange and make him/her feel miserable. Luring the runner into running is quite necessary with this kind of deck, at least in my experience. If you don't he or she will build up and you'll see that, no matter how many janus you pile up, the runner will click his way through your fort.
