Play Events & Oracle May V2.0(Cloud City Store Championship)

Cancer Ace 156

My most recent version of a deck based heavily on Elstyr's Doubledate on a Bench deck from the Bern Regionals, largely because it performs more consistently then almost any other runner deck I have ever run. I just missed the cut to top four, largely thanks to this deck.

Couldn't you remove Test Runs for 3 Motivation and STILL have 3 influence left over for an Indexing? 6 influence seems like a lot to use just for recursion when you accidentally trash your breaker through Oracle May. Also, how did Power Shutdown not totally destroy?

This deck does not need Motivation. If you want to play super safe you can run it, but it just isn't necessary. Once you have an Oracle May on the board there is at most 6 cards in your deck that aren't events. The other three resources are all very helpful and in certain games can be very necessary, but most games if they end up trashed it does not matter, which leaves three cards that you don't want trashed in your deck. There are more cards to search for your breakers then there are breakers, so even then your chances are slim. If you do trash a program, Test Runs don't only bring them back, they can also grab them when you need them. To make matters worse you'd actually have more non-event cards to trash with Oracle May.

If anything gets pulled it will be Net Celebrity, as it did next to nothing for me in the tournament.

Power Shutdown is a serious problem for this deck, so if anything I'll put in more copies of Test Run or Retrieval Run.

Hey Cancer Ace! Nice to see that others are also still playing this deck. :-)

Sadly, there haven't been any new events that would considerably improve this deck. Maybe Order&Chaos will bring something new to it ;-)

Yeah, Net Celebrity was the only thing out of the entire Lunar Cycle I added, in hopes of being able to get rid of ELP more easily, but I think even that is unnecessary. There are a couple of things I would like to try with the free influence, including upgrading ZU.13 to Gordian Blade to help with Power Shutdowns

He needs Test Run to recur because he needs his recursion to be events and tutors. Deja Vu doesn't work because he'd still have to fetch his breaker if he can't draw/discard it.

It's an unfortunate way to recur but his breakers are relatively cheap in a median.

What was your experience with Theophilus Bagbiter ? This is the first time i see him in a May/Run list, how did it perform ? You will usually be crazy rich is he for scorch protection ? when do you install him ?

I think I made a play no one else has ever made in Netrunner in the second round of the tourney. Turn 1 Click 1 Hostage into Theophilius. I was facing a deck I knew revolved around damage and decided I wanted to get him out immediately. I had Oracle May in hand and an Easy Mark and Dirty Laundry to restore my credits, so it just seemed like the right play. He is my protection in this deck, and also helps immensely at times by allowing me to hold as many options in my hand as possible. That being said, some games I never saw him and it just didn't matter. You can win without him, but he definitely helps.

have a look at this list, IMO it works better as it is more consistant:

I think you should remove one Net Celebrity to upgrade Zul to Gordian Blade. The money you save installing Zul gets made up very quickly boosting your decoder, and like you mention it's more resistant to Power Shutdown. When I've played Net Celebrity it hasn't really payed out much over the course of the game, and with all the run events you don't have to worry as much about clearing corp currents (particularly ELP). My list goes for Indexing and Deja Vu, but this looks like a pretty solid Ken May decklist.
