Seven Turns to Kill v2

thopol 49

This is the updated version of my janky Haarpsichord kill deck. Now with ICE.

The idea is that if your opponent takes an agenda every turn, that still gives you 7 turns to find all of the parts you need to blow them up. It reduces a complex and fun game to simple arithmetic solitaire, so let's figure out how to make it dominant shall we?

Hey, this deck idea is really dumb, I like it.

Now I made some changes. First, I'd cut the yagura for 2xShipment from kaguya.

I think kaguya can greatly increase our scoring potential, or maybe not.

Now hunter is nice and taxing, but I think Gutenberg is even better because the trace is so high.

Paper wall is a great gearcheck, but it folds under pressure. Wraparound is more expensive, but it can really cause some headaches for anarchs who rely on AI-breakers and D4v1d.

I know this deck is hard to cut, but I'd keep 3xSweeps week. I'd rather cut one restructure, because getting two of them in your starting hand with no other econ just sucks.

Oh boy, I can't wait to try this.

Thanks for the input.

I don't like the Shipment from Kaguya so much because this is really not trying to score. I think if you want to try that, it will dilute your scorched potential. There might be a small-agenda-clock Haarpsichord deck that can scorch or score, but I can't work it out. I think it's a one trick pony that you shouldn't bother teaching a second trick to. That said, in discussing it we can think about whether or not it's possible, so thanks.

Paperwall vs Wraparound is a tough question. Every credit is going to count on the final turn. It's just a question of how quickly the runner will analyze what you're doing, and then how the runner will value disruption, accesses, and defense. I don't know the answer to this one.

Sweeps vs Restructure... I see your point, but like I said, every credit counts. This deck is digging constantly and throwing away agendas constantly. My rationale was that sweeps for anything less than four is suboptimal. If you chip your way into Restructure-land, you're getting more money. You don't need money fast in this deck, you just need the most money possible on what you make the last turn. That said, the runner really doesn't need to play cards from hand and if they do, they're usually wasting their time, so sweeps is going to be Hedge Fund most of the time. You might well be right about that, but there is a case going for both sides.

I'd exchange the yagura for more traffic accidents, think that's way better if you're going for the kill. And if in desperate need of money pop-up should be a pretty solid ice? You're basically letting them in everywhere anyway so why not make som money of of it?

The idea behind Yagura was that it was a third quandary that helped move through the deck faster. I have since changed it to a Cortex Lock, though I don't think that's optimal either.

I also cut the third Traffic Accident for a Reuse. Now cutting these to begin with might be a mistake, but since it's a super all-in build, perhaps I just need to dig for the scorched. It would feel bad to have two accidents and no scorched in hand. It's probably a balance though. I probably want one or two accidents to smooth things over.

Pop-up is not a good fit for the deck. It makes money but doesn't keep the runner out. As such, it would be better to have another money card, since the game is not going long enough to make enough off of popup. The only reason there is ice in the deck at all is to force the runner to do something, anything, other than disrupt you and gain credits. Popup is a tax, sure, but they can still spend all of their time disrupting you and gaining credits. Popup doesn't change the runner's behavior like ETR ice does, or ice that directly advances the deck's aim like Hunter and Yagura or Cortex Lock.

I appreciate the input though. This is a jank-fest that people are helping me either change or critically analyze, and even when I disagree with you, you are helping.

But if you want ETR why not go with the permanent Wraparound over paperwall then? It's also very effective against keyhole decks without fracters so it serves multiple purposes. 2 credits is more than two but it will serve a purpose even after the runner has found the breaker. Although pop-up is not an ETR it many times will dissuade the runner from running because they don't want to hand you credits. It is the same thing with Data Raven I think. It acts as an ETR many times by being to good for the corp to trigger.

Also, pop-up is a credit swing. Since your goal is to outtrace the runner, it may help.
