Trapestry - 1st Place GNK

Kaiji 61

I just came back from a GNK where this deck went undefeated (the smoke i ran with it lost once), and since a friend asked me to publish the list, here we go :)

With this deck, you basically play glacier with 1 line of ICE (sometimes with a second, when you find the ICE and money, or if you suspect Inside Job shenanigans). Tapestry & DNA Tracker are very annoying for runners to have to go through before trying to trash your Sundews. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the never advance mind games in and out of a scoring remote :D

  • Tapestry can stop a runner from accessing R&D by itself, because they'll often suppose you put a trap on top (even though you might just have wanted to screw their multi-access with a random operation). In front of HQ, it gives you extra draws, but you could also incite the runner to try for R&D after all by pretending to hide an agenda on top of it (which would also be totally fine).
  • Komainu in front of Kakugo can gain you a lot of time
  • Susanoo-no-Mikoto is just great, even if there is only 1 shock in archives.
  • Macrophage is generally best in front of R&D (because of Medium), but can also serve as random unrezzed deterrent in the late game. (It stopped a runner who wanted to go for Temüjin archives when he had Medium + Data Sucker)
  • Jeeves Model Bioroids is just icing on the cake. Most of the time i gain an extra install after 3 credits, 3 draws+IPO, or a Jackson Howard draw after triple install, but he really shines when getting the first Medical Breakthrough, or when winning with triple advance + "Clones are not People"

I might have been lucky enough to snipe a film critic from hand through net damage and not having encountered Parasites when I drew all my 1 Strength ICE, but the deck is generally fun to play and will more often than not win through Net Damage even though the scoring plan is sound. So, if you wanna instill fear in your opponent by putting your best Poker Face on and clicking for credits while holding 3 agendas in hand, I'd recommend giving this deck a try ;)

Tapestry is incredibly annoying to deal with, especially on top of Enhanced Login Protocol. DNA Tracker and Tapestry are both 7 to break with Gordian Blade/Inversificator, even with Desperado and Temüjin Contract it gets very expensive very quickly, leaving little money to deal with Sundew and Jeeves Model Bioroids.

Thanks for the game, will probably try this list myself!

@TKMaximus It's especially annoying when, after all the effort, you're landing in a trap, right ? (e.g fake install the second Jeeves behind some ICE and an unprotected agenda besides it, then replace Jeeves with a Shock! after scoring for maximum mind games ;))

Let me know if you have any questions on card choices or want some advice on playing the deck. I can already tell you that it might requires some patience in the setup phase (e.g click for credits when the economy doesn't show up) to make sure the runner gets taxed enough to not want to run so much :)

Another (smaller) GNK win last week-end! This time beating Siphon Maxx, Desperado Smoke and Derez Los. Poor @TKMaximushad to suffer through the mind games again :D Good games were had though!
