Extreme Spelunking

What happens when you combine too much Diesel, a Daredevil, and a Mining Accident waiting to happen? Extreme Spelunking, of course!

Lets look at some numbers, shall we? At time of research, number of other Shaper decks trying Mining Accident: 5. Number of those decks that run as CT: 0. In fact, number of those decks that run any of the 40 card Shaper IDs: 1. Clearly, there's some room to experiment in this department!

"Why go through all this trouble to build without Opus," you may be saying. Two words, my friend: Film Critic. Turns out it's still really good, and if you're Mopusing, you won't have access to this wonderful, restricted card. And maybe your meta is full of Obokata shenanigans.

So what the heck does a "good stuff" Shaper look like these days? You have me there, but maybe it looks something like this.

Spanish Inquisition
Nobody expects Mining Accident in Shaper!

The idea here is hit an undefended central on turn 1 or 2 (usually archives), before the corp knows what's up, and get a Sacrificial Construct defended Tapwrm running. If possible, use that central server run to get Mining Accident up at the same time. The aim is to net a couple of bad pub across the game that you can combo with Multithreader for efficient, cheap runs. From there, it's all the Shaper "good stuff" we love; hit that remote when needed and smack RnD, possibly with a Mad Dash after your standard Indexing. Bonus that the breakers mostly keep their strength for the run, further helping you against similar, stacked ICE.

I've run a bunch of draw tests already on this concept, and barring the worst luck you always get SMC (for Tapwrm), a Tapwrm itself, a Mining Accident, a combination of two of the above (surprisingly frequent) or a Diesel that draws you into any of the above given a standard draw + one mulligan.

I could see possibly dropping the Modded for 2x Interdiction to clear unwanted corp currents and generally help lock remotes (and avoid silly Crisium Grids on RnD). 1x Beth Kilrain-Chang would be a welcome include, as well. Fall Guy was a brief consideration, but Dummy Box is here in faction to cover your critic.

Happy Hunting, fellow runners!

Algo Trading?

@Jeffrey Bosboom Yep. I was skeptical at first, too. But it's way better than you think as long as you can spare a few credit for the initial investment. You get your investment back when you crack it, too. Think of it like a Tech Writer for decks that don't install 10,000 tiny things. Perfect for installing that last breaker and making a big run.

It gets trashed by Best Defense, but with Dummy Box, you can still save them in this deck.

It kinda feels like Tapwrm and Mining Accident are working against each other here.
