2nd place Store Champs! This is my second 2nd place finish with this pair of decks (this one and Victorinox.) I feel like I performed very well on the day except for a couple of critical chokes vs criminal decks.
Changes since previous version: Hunter Seeker is not yet legal or I would have it, probably in place of the Best Defense. I kind of want both but I realize that Best Defense is kind of doing the same thing BOOM is doing, so. I put in a Waiver that I didn't see all day, not realizing that Mausolus is more taxing and in faction. Next version that's probably going to be an Ark Lockdown again.
Round 1 vs: Prepaid Ken.
Ken was incredibly careful and piloted extremely well. I was 1 credit short to kill him, and this was calculated on his part. He shook the tags off midseasons with the burst econ from prepaid voice pad and he managed to score out. There was a turning point where I had to decide whether I was going to play Midseasons or continue on a scoring plan and after a few minutes thought I chose wrongly.
Round 2 vs: regular breakers/Magnum Opus Kit.
Kit stumbled into an agenda too early and got Midseason'ed. Miscalculated and went for a big dig on R&D to try and end the game - got singleton Scorched instead.
Round 3 vs: Classic Andromeda. Video
I made a critical mistake and forgot to Consulting Visit MCA Informant onto Kati Jones until after she had been used for 15 credits. This was 15 credits the runner could have not had, considering I had an incredibly fast start.
Because of the early tempo, she kept above me in money and stole too many agendas off centrals for me to threaten death. Twice I was 1 credit short of being able to rez ice to dodge siphons (going to 0), so that was a 30 credit swing that didn't need to take place. Even 2x crisium couldn't keep her in check. Her turns towards the end were take 4 credits pass to remote lock me. My only out at that point was mother goddess but she had femme, so in light of how much time we had left I conceded.
I technically had a very low % chance of winning (pick up mother goddess, try to score out, hope R&D didn't give it up) but I wanted to get this 45m game out of the way so we could have a chance of playing game 2 since I knew his ETF deck could run long vs my Shaper.
Top Cut
Game 1 vs: Chaos Theory Sifr Parasite recursion.
Oh boy did I miss my Ark Lockdown.
Was heavily agenda flooded but bluffed out by not icing hq. Taxed out clone clips and test runs by continuously oversighting big ice. Weyland is really good at putting the runner in forks - let me get 15 credits, or use one of your two clone chips.
I got to 6 points early by finding the tempo moments to score out, then dragged CT through a 3 ice remote that included bulwark to keep her at or near zero.
She ate a Tribunal to trash 2 plascretes and an RDI, then midseasons into single scorch ended the game because her hand got overtaxed using sifr every turn and ended up playing a Datasucker from hand to go to 3.
Lessons for the future:
I didn't see my Waiver all day and I guess for 2 inf it's not as taxing as Mausolus. The trace is good but I need to be ahead in order to boost it so the inf slot could be a Psychographics to give me another out vs runners who run plascrete/Levy. Even 2-3 tags floated can give me a score from hand - although this does not fix the problem of not being able to do anything if the runner is ahead on money.
Hunter Seeker was not legal for this event but oh my god it's going to be SO GOOD. Currently if the runner outmoneys you you cannot do anything beyond drag them through a remote. Hunter-Seeker + Ark Lockdown means you can permanently remove their ability to interact with one of your ice types.
I will also slot Colossus and Hortum for another painful facecheck sentry (whose strength I can raise to seriously wreck rigs that don't run boostable killers) and Hortum for another ETR code gate that screws Atman.
Still the funnest deck ever, but make sure you have enough credits to dodge siphon!
