As a 60-something with jet lag, who hadn't played for 3 months, I needed something untaxing for yesterday's Australian Nationals. @Wyrm 's re-tooled Railgun from Gencon seemed just the thing: https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/44896/gauss-rifle-5-2-gencon-2nd-
Turns out it was - going 4-1, with its only loss in the last round of the Swiss, against a Whizz playing double Plascrete AND I've Had Worse - who does that???
Prior to that, the deck delivered 12 prestige points from no more than 25 turns over 4 rounds and not much more than half an hour's actual play in total. This included an epic flood - 11 agenda points by turn 2 and no ice all game - which ended with three points stolen, 2 points naked in a remote, 2 points naked in archives, and 24/7 Boom on Turn 6. Poker face.
I expected that most of my opponent's would have read @Wyrm 's decklist, so I tweaked it to fit in a surprise Midseasons. In the past I'd found that 8 Ice is a bit light for Railgun - you want to slow the runner down, so Special Offer kills two birds with one stone - impersonating a real ice to discourage early runs, and funding a big Midseasons in front of Explode-a-Palooza. I dropped the Sealed Vaults - added the third Beanstalk and the Special Offers to help against siphons - and swapped one IP Block for an Ice Wall for the sixth Weyland influence point. With the extra econ, I dropped one Hedge - took @Wyrm's advice that it was the worst econ card in the deck! Last card to go was one Special Report - I theory-crafted that compared to Railgun, Jackson could handle the Agenda recycling duties.
All the changes worked to some extent - in fact, even though I was always happy to see Special Report, I'd consider dropping it. Maybe for Salem's, if double plascrete is really a thing. Salem's for IHW, Hasty, Combo is nice....
I played Noise, three Andy's and the aforementioned Whizz, which also had Slums - a nightmare.
I think this will be my corp of choice until rotation, or at least until they MWL Diagnostics...
