I had planned to take Zahya for the main tournament at Worlds 2023, but I figured I should at least try Hoshiko as someone who had never really played her before. It turns out she's pretty good folks. As my friend said, she's not busted but she's the best Anarch and Anarch has the best card pool right now.
Overall Idea
Once a runner has 3 breakers and a turbine out, it's very difficult for the Corp to keep them out. This deck was meant to get to that point as fast as possible with Bahia Bands, Steelskin, The Price, Gachapon and Hoshiko's draw. What I accounted for less was the vast amount of NBN and asset decks out there as well as just how fast Corps can go at the moment.
My tech cards were Fencer Fueno (who does lots of work atm between trashing assets and paying for installs on Bahia Bands), Flip Switch (Stavrun and tag tech all in one), Wheels (asset and tag tech) and Jarogniew Mercs (incredible against tag>kill and Punitive decks as one of the only damage prevention options right now).
Results
1: lostgeek's NEH. Managed to pull a lucky agenda off the top of R&D with no money left for the win
2: No core damage taken against Thule
3: Wrecked by extrac's R+
4: Killed by Azmari Reeducation Neurospike
5: On 6 points on turn 2 and didn't get Oppo-ed but eventually killed by Azmari Reeducation Djupstad Grid
6: Jarogniew Mercs made me nigh unkillable against R+ (Got Oppo-ed for 4 tags. Installed Mercs to go to 5 tags, used Wheels to gain 2 clicks and remove a tag, cleared 4 tags, now have 8 meat damage prevention counters)
7: NEH loss 8: Asa loss 9: Intentional Draw
Changes
I'd start with 2-3 Bankhar. It sounds obvious, but it's just a card I hadn't played around with much and was wary of including. That said, it's imperative against the fast decks right now. The companion and Twinning idea is decent, but often times I feel it doesn't go fast enough.
To be honest, if a list as simple and straightforward as Sokka's Hoshiko can do so well, going with fundamentals and minimal tech seems like a good way forward to develop and rely on better pilot skill.
Thanks again to the organisers and NSG for hosting an incredible event!
