First Place Castelldefells Store Championship

Flatline 477

AKA "Kit goes where she pleases! v1.1"

This is an "hybrid" Rielle deck: it uses her ability to get in in the early game, but then builds a standard shaper full rig for the late game.

Of course there are a few shenanigans, namely Scavenges to "remap" Cyber-Cyphers and Femme Fatales as needed, Escher to reposition the bad ICEs and a Chakana, tutorable with the SMCs and to be used as a temporary patch against Fast Advance decks.

So did you win a tournament with it, then? ;)

It's a nice deck with plenty of options, and I like the way you spent that little influence Rielle has. I would probably go with 3 copies of Self-modifying Code, given the constant inability to draw the Programs I need during my games, but that's just my thing.

What about a single (or a couple of) Test Run, to allow for a very cheep FF? Might also come in handy to recover something you might have to trash to free MU, after all.

Do you have the Corp deck winner too? Very interested to see both decks

Very interesting. How useful was Chakana? Did you ever tutor for it?

Was the Ninja necessary? Seems like Knight may be more versatile.

I think it will be more powerful with some improves:

· Needs more tutors, classic rig style is obsolete. 3 TR for those 3 Diesel. And then you can reduce Femmes to 1. Also another SMC.

· Mimic is best companion for Femme than Ninja. Best is always DinoMimic + Femme.

· More economy. At least some Daily Casts or Dirty Laundry. You can't rely only on Kati Jones, specially with all the latest active tagging around.

· Another PC would be nice or you'll be meat-ed to death

· If you depend so badly on Scavenges, consider including some Same Old Thing.

· Lockpick? WTF

· If you need mem and don't want to use any console, I'd go for Dyson Mem Chip instead of Akamatsu.

Lock pick is amazing in kit builds.................................................................

I'd rather see parasite, datasucker, and use atman for what you're using femme for, and then you have the flexability with datasucker as well. Since kit can get into most servers at least 1 time per turn, getting suckers isn't hard at all.

Now consider grifter too o.O

I just won a store tournament with a deck like this using lockpicks, cybers, and the unsuspected chakana. Thanks for the inspiration!

Lol didn't see the amount of comments to the deck, sorry for the late replies, I'll try to answer all the questions.

@paddo: my heart cried a lot when I decided to cut a SMC, but I didn't have space for it. I was considering moving the three clone chips to test runs, but then I preferred to keep the deck like this: however this is a nice test to be made :) By the way, I can't believe you didn't mock me on the inclusion of Professional Contacts :P

@Argamas: the corp deck was a pretty standard NBN fast advance, nothing new under the sun, that's why I didn't publish it :)

@Alsciende: in this particular tournament I didn't need it, but in previous ones I did. Chakana is a pretty silver bullet, which at times saves the day :)

@Spags: I tried (I think I also published it here) a different version with Knights, but it didn't work out really well, mostly because Knight needs Deep Red (otherwise you lose the on-the-fly remapping of the deck, which is bad), and this means 6 extra cards. Moreover I met two Jintekis with Swordsman when I tried that version (I know, pretty antistatistical as they where the only two Jinteki in the tournament) :D

@p3los:

  • you don't need that many tutor, if you keep on drawing during the match ;)

  • Mimic is very good, but Ninja is versatile, and not particularly expensive. When I want to transition to a full-rig, I want the holy trinity Corroder-Ninja-Gordian Blade :) I admit, however, that as I expect many more Jinteki in the foreseeable future I will probably insert a Mimic (probably instead of the parasite, which I basically never used).

  • I never had a single problem economy-wise. But you are not the first saying the same thing so I probably should clarify. I feel that this Kit deck has a two-state game. At the beginning you run like hell: with your ciphers it is cheap, and you force the corp to rez everything and then more. However, once the board is established, you switch to your late game mentality, in which Kit becomes a surgical scalpel. You run only when you have to (and your runs are also really cheap!), and then you get money (I had many late game turns of 3 creds+kati), and you use your flexibilty to switch your rig in order to target the correct server. The point is that the corp has to know that you can enter wherever you want, whenever you want, and that time is on your side in any case :)

  • Plastcrete Carapaces. You get flatlined only if you play it wrong. The only match I lost with this deck was against a Weyland, but not because of a flatline, because he drew ALL the economy of the deck AND a sea source AND two scorched. He didn't have ICE basically, but I couldn't run. This is to say that you can mathematically know when it is safe to run, and that you lose against a flatline deck only if they are terribly lucky with their draw, Which basically means nothing, as this is a card game and luck obviously counts :)

  • Didn't need it, Scavenge is for early plays, later you have your rig :) (and an AR Lab Access by the way)

  • Lockpick OP in Rielle. It pays by himself at the first run. Great card (in Rielle at least)

  • Akamatsu are cheaper, and link is for pussies :D 'nuff said.

@x3r0h0ur: not a huge fan of atman, expecially in Rielle, I prefer the femme for its flexibility. Datasucker are OP in any deck, the only problem in Kit is that you already run for the cheap (have I already said how fantastic are the Cyber-ciphers? :D), and you don't really NEED them. Again they are great in any deck, but I don't think they are worth the deck space in this particular case :) Grifter is a nice idea, however as I said I didn't have any particular economy problem in this deck.

@thrazznos: you are very welcome, fellow Riellist :D

Love Kit, love the deck - I'm taking a slightly modified version to my store championships. Any thoughts on adding cards from the new data packs, like Omega for example?

23 Mar 2014 Flatline

I still have to experiment with Omega... and now Paintbrush. But this deck keeps rolling, as of today it brought me in top 4 in two store championships and helped me winning a third one... so I'm not sure it needs to be changed :D

Let me know how the store championship goes! :)
