Republishing after some early edits. There might be a place for Same Old Thing in here, but as yet I'm not confident that it has the economy to reliably make that work (though with Deep Red, one could conceivably move Knight to a different ICE of the same type and run the last cutlery again, which would be awesome the one-time-in-a-hundred that it worked.)
Also, I just want to make sure I'm right, that I could test-run a Pawn, run it so that it trashes for a Rook or a Knight, and then at the end of turn place said Pawn on top of me stack?

Gah! Of course, only saw that bit now (don't know how I missed it.) So I'm looking for different heap-scavenging, most likely (or else using test-run differently than planned. It could still be useful.) What would you suggest here? |

I should also mention that while I'm building this deck to work, it's most specifically built to troll a friend's HB deck, hence the lack of damage protection. |

Maybe Clone Chip? Test Run will, at the end of the turn put the card back in the top of the stack, and Maxx will trash it again at the beginning of the next turn. I don't believe that, without Scavenge, Test Run is any good in a Maxx deck. |

Retrieval Run should probably be in here somewhere (I hate figuring out what I should lose - it always ends up being econ.) Scavenge might be the thing, though I'm trying to imagine what I'll be willing to lose to make it work properly... |

And to be clear, Test Run would still be used to force Knights and Rooks from the heap at zero cost. It'd just be slow and not have the massive combo upside I stupidly thought it might have at first. |

Wyldside or Earthrise Hotel can fix your test runs - since they have the same trigger as MaxX you can choose which ability to resolve first. |
You are wrong, Test Run only puts the card in the top of your deck if it is still instaled when the turn ends.
