Nasir, Cyber Engineer (v.3.1)

CJFM 2270

(v.3.1) MVP: MOpus. Honorable Mention: Scavenge, Atman, Datasucker. Social Engineering comes out because it's not good enough. Play this deck a lot like AoA, drawing constantly and running aggressively to expose ice. Once you have a way to dump your money (either PW, CMC, or Savoire-faire) start running (don't run last click!) and get them to rez. RDI is here to offer more pressure on the Corp. Single access feels bad...

Cards to test in next build: False Echo (seems really good!).

(v.3) New tests: MOpus instead of Kati (might be too heavy on mem, but I've included a second Cybersolutions Mem Chip just in case), +1 Sharpshooter, +1 Atman (love these guys with Nasir!), +1 Femme, -1 each Gord Blade and Battering Ram, +1 Djinn, +1 Imp (hard to trash things without it!), +3 Scavenge, -1 Indexing... I've left in Social Engineering for more testing, but I'm not 100% in love with it. Scavenges offer more play through Femme and Atman, and recursion of Parasites/Sharpshooter/Deus X.

(v.2) Some alterations to an earlier deck. Savoir-faire allows for bursty draw-run turns with Sahasrara to help install. Want to fit in Cyberfeeders. Atmans are for sentries and Engineering can be treated as a money card in this deck. Might need another indexing or some Maker's Eye to force a rez.

Don't you feel Modded to be anti-synergistic with PW? I tried it out for a bit in my Nasir decks, but I noted I mostly kept them in hand while hosting things in PW.

How do you intend to use false echo?

@EwMatias Somewhat, but hear me out. The deck needs Hardware/Programs to work, and I don't have any space for Diesel/QT. There are times when 1), I don't get PW and/or need MOpus turn 1 (such as against a CI or other SEA+Scorch Weyland), 2) PW gets trashed anyway due to Midseasons (happened yesterday, and Modded saved the day!), 3) Sometimes you really want to force out Atman and you want to leave creds for CMC or to pump Blade/Ram during Approach. Think of it as extra economy. I never really had problems with economy with this build, but yes it can be awkward with PW.

Because you want to be running a lot and early, Modded can be a better choice at times, especially if you're playing against NBN and really want to threaten RND turn one with RDI. Another problem that you might run into is no PW and a Toolbox in hand (yikes!). Modded can cut down on that, allowing you to still play the game you want.

@thrazznos I wanted to test a new build with False Echo, Rook/Deep Red, FAO, and recursion with SOT. The goal would be to abuse Indexing and Maker's Eye, which in many ways is the Shaper "version" of Siphon. This is still in the planning phase though, so it might not work ;)

The problem I had with false echo, it basically only works in a scenario when the corp is trying to delay rezzing an ice so they can rez it during an important run without you knowing what it is, similar with what happens with siphon. However, if they do choose to rez, Nasir just lost his opportunity to get money from that ice rez.

@thrazznos But if they rez it, and it's expensive, they're out some cash and you might be able to exploit another server, similar to a FAO. If they take it to hand, that server is more vulnerable and you get another chance to gain money off it later. If it's cheap, primarily a Pop-up, and they rez it, you've just saved yourself losing a ton of cash. A Pop-Up Window in front of an Ash'd server is one of the most frustrating things for Nasir right now. If they don't rez the Pop-Up, you hit the Ash, maybe trash it (maybe) and then they have another chance to stop your run cold with the Pop-Up.

Now, there are ways around this, specifically Overmind (!), Rook, Xanadu, sacrifice Fall Guy (for cash), Basically, the concept I'm thinking of with False Echo revolves around keeping the amount of ICE on the board low, and making deep RND runs with Indexing. Either they res the ice and show you what you need, or they don't and you go in anyway. It sets them back a few creds and they might have to discard something.

The reason the Fale Echo strat synergizes well with Indexing/Makers is because you're putting the ice in HQ (obviously) and you don't really want to bother contesting HQ with an extra card in it (somewhat annoying). Maybe it's just the Johnny-runner in me, but I really want it to work!
